Hi folks,

I noticed some really nice updates on skills on another site that tracks all the information regarding the new skill trees on all the characters. Is there any update on your side or information that you provide? I would be happy to update the wiki :)

regards, meli

I am interested in helping out in the wiki but I don't quite know how you guys want to handle the new skill system itself. Are there any plans or templates going around somewhere?

yes, anyone is welcome to help out updating the wiki. That's the whole point in having the info in a wiki. ;)

Spurred by your requests and willingness to assist, I've thrown together a very quick DH skills page, and created navigation for her skills as well.

http://www.diablowiki.net/Demon_Hunter_skills

Click the linked skill names, or use the nav bar at the bottom of the page to create them. I made a skeletal page for Bolo Shot, just for use as a template. Be sure you get the templates and categories to include on any new skill pages you create.

It would be delightful if some of you guys could create and flesh out the individual skill pages, including info from longer descriptions of the skills (such as I wrote in a main page post on Friday) and info from the panels and interviews. Screenshots, from the gameplay movie or directly, are also very welcome additions.

I'd rather have too much info on the pages that can be whittled down later, rather than too little, so if you see a quote from some D3 Team guy, or a useful screenshot, please include it.

i have just updated the complete wizard skill section on the wizard's main page and added diamond skin (+screen) + familiar to her skills, but i noticed that Meteor is already reserved for the "story-meteor" in the cinematic trailer.

i decided to only add one quick line that meteor is also a wizard skill tier 6, unlocked at lvl20, but i think a separate page for the skill rather than the lore-centered one would be required. no idead how to do that, though ;)

Just make a new page (http://www.diablowiki.net/Help:New_article) called "Meteor (Wizard Skill)", then on the Wizard page set up the link like this: Meteor. That will make it appear to say "Meteor", but will send you to the skill's page. Then, let an admin deal with redirects.

Sounds good, Flux. I will take a crack at it tomorrow. I haven't done anything like this before but it doesn't look very complicated.

Ok, I have a few of the demon hunter skills "done"; Bolo Shot, Entangling Shot, Grenades. Working on more. This is my first time doing this so if you see me screwing something up, feel free to give me a holler. It's addicting. >.>

Yes it is :D

Okay, so this page:

http://diablowiki.net/Bolo_Shot

Is dead. It lead to a humiliating thread in the demon hunter forums, though, which is always a plus. :p

The correct page should be:

http://diablowiki.net/Bola_Shot but I don't know how to change it. I populated it, though.

making a redirect page is very easy.
http://diablowiki.net/index.php?title=Bolo_Shot&action=edit

#redirect Bola Shot

that's it. Just #redirect with the page you want it to go to in brackets. Case sensitive, as always (annoyingly) in wikis. We usually make a bunch of redirects for common names, capitalization issues, etc. PvP, PVP pvp, etc.

Thanks for assistance with the DH pages; I'll get to doing some other skill stuff tomorrow, and can start redoing all the navigation for the other chars, now that skill trees are gone, adding in the new skills, etc.

Thanks man. I didn't see that in the info pages, but then again I also thought it was "Bolo shot". :p
I'd like to start on the monk skills sometime soon, fun stuff. Stupid school.

Great job on the various DH pages. I looked over them tonight and I was really impressed. Often people help out on the wiki and do very half-assed jobs that the admins have to go back and almost do the page from scratch, but I didn't see anything to edit or improve on those pages; at least not until write some more detailed skill descriptions in a DH hands on report.

The monk skills are ready for the same treatment, and I'm working on the other pages as I type this. I did a very quickie monk skills page update and fixed the navigation, and updated the monk skills archive, but I didn't update any of the individual skill pages. Please update the existing as needed, create the new ones paste in the proper navigation, and fill out the pages where possible.
http://www.diablowiki.net/Monk_skills

The vast majority of new monk skills have never seen seen, so we can't do more than conjecture in most cases. For now.

Feel free to put some Monk skill images on the monk skills page, but try to keep that one fairly light; it's meant to be a quick reference; put the bulk of the content on the individual skill pages.

If you make any big changes to the 5 carried over individual skill pages (3 of the original 8 skills are gone) please retain the original version on the page (paste it down to the bottom, call it "skill archive," and make a note on the monk skills archive page.
http://www.diablowiki.net/Monk_skill_archive#Removed_Skills

All of these instructions/requests apply to the other 3 char skill pages, once they've been updated, which I hope to finish before Friday morning.

Thanks.

I got all the barb skills added and changed the navigation. It took a while, since 17 skills are gone from last year, and 5 new are added. Massacre! I will endeavor to get the wiz and WD skills all updated tomorrow, and hopefully some of you guys will have time to help update the new individual skill pages over the weekend.

tally of the barb skill changes, if you're curious:

Yeah, the issue with the monk skills will be getting screenshots. I can get the ones used at Blizzcon but since they're done within a four-player game, they're really hard to capture in a screenshot.

And thankya, I'm kind of anal about these types of things. Don't be surprised if, when I edit a page, there will be at least five more edits after that. :p

I revamped the minimap page with some info, too.

most of them won't have screenshots. As the wiz and wd and barb higher level skills do/will not either, for the time being.

I took a good sequence of shots of the Lightning Fists combo the monk had in the blizzcon demo; that's on the page already. Most of the others the skill hover is all we've got to go with, for the time being, so those pages will necessarily be fairly sparse.

Risingred

Yeah, I'm just going to make them skeletal for now. I put in the sequence shot you cooked up into the Hands of Lightning wiki entry.
I'm also going to go through the monk skills page and label them as either a spirit or a combo skill, from what I can tell (if the hover doesn't say).

I was thinking that for the synergy hidden entries, closer to release perhaps we could populate that category with traits that affect the skills, and also how stats affect it since they are synergies. It's a nice, tidy category.

Flux

Good point on the traits. Quite a few of them are listed in various forum threads, but I've not had time to work up a main page or char traits pages. hopefully over the weekend. And reading/studying over those will inform char skill descriptions.

One thing that will be fun to put onto the wiki pages is info about rune effects. Almost no pages have that now (just Hydra?) since we weren't given any specifics and didn't know enough to speculate. Now they've dropped a fair amount of hints into panels and interviews and such, so there are a lot of tidbits, plus some decent visuals and descriptions to work in.

I'm still absorbing all the blizzcon info and rune stuff, but updating the runestones page with all that we've been told will be fun, at some point.

I think it would almost be a good idea to have a gallery just for the rune effects, and then a gallery at the bottom for the skill itself. But nobody is going to use the skill itself. ;)
