The PvP Thread

I think it is about time for a new PvP thread - hopefully we can breathe some life into the SP PvP scene.

Please state SC/HC, mods (for convenience - vanilla players may PvP with modded players without penalty providing they don't help clear the Moor) and version played.

Bad Mannered Rules
(High level - taken from the PvP guide)

The rules most commonly used nowadays are intended to prevent inherent imbalances in classes becoming too dominant and leading to too many one sided matches. Obviously this doesn’t always occur, and it is still possible to completely negate attacks under these rules, but in general if it’s just a standard game don’t stack and absorb someone to the point that their damage becomes insignificant. Save that sort of thing for tournaments. They’re fairly comparable to what’s being regarded as GM in public games on Battle.net, with a couple of exceptions, the main ones being the bans on Decrepify, Bone Prison and recasting Cyclone and Bone Armour.

No potions (except mana potions), mercs, wells, or shrines.
No recasting Cyclone and Bone Armour.
No minions that cannot be summoned in town with the exception of Decoy.
No Holy Freeze, Decrepify, Slow Missiles, or Bone Prison.
No mass slow (>10%), no mass poison from items (>200), no mass replenish (>25).
No curse charges (this includes Slow Missiles). Chance to cast is acceptable.
No over absorb. Limit 2 items per element with the standard ban on Rising Sun and Black Oak.
Mana potions are allowed for all characters except ES based sorcs

If you aren't sure about whether something is allowed, ask the host. You can play very BM characters if they're up for it. :grin:

I can't connect and that 192.168.x.x address looks like it is your internal IP behind your router. If you have port forwarding setup you can google "what is my IP" and get a website to quickly tell you your external IP.

Ive brought forward my tesladin and respecced/regeared him into cheezer, so Ill join. Not for long I guess (I have data limited connection - also, its gonna be superfun on 3G modem :D). Also, 30 minutes sounds ok, I have some IRL to finish.

edit: quick nub question - if I have a FAM character, and Ill let it use my vanilla beta CTA, but only in PvP (and no cleaning the moor etc) will it still stays vanilla from SPF PoV? I know tainting is not so harsh when dueling, but Im unsure about this specific situation ...

Hey guys been on the forums for a couple months now trading and gaming with some of the general population here on the forums and just started to get the itch to pvp after and low and behold our own maxicek posts the new pvp thread and was just posting so ask if it would possible to join you guys sometime :D I only ask cause it seems you guys got a tight group of about 5 people D:. and it just seems courteous to do so being the would-be "New Guy" after all (call me old fashioned)

It would be an honor for you to join. It is always good to have more people interested in pvp. There are only a few people who are regularly available for pvp and that's what might make it seem like an exclusive group. It's not. It's completely open.

Also, don't think that you need to have item X or item Y to play. The goal is to have fun and we adapt to whatever group of people we have.

Keep your eye out for games (although they are few and far between) or try and arrange a time. Many people can host so there should be someone available if you arrange a time even if you can't host yourself.

I know you guys played just earlier tonight, but I just "finished" (I use that term loosely of course) my first ever PvP character, and if someone wanted to do a few duels so I could test the waters, that'd be cool. Keep in mind that, while I have pretty nice items, I have literally no PvP skills at all, having never been in a PvP game my entire Diablo life.

Anyway, if someone patient would like to give me a shot, I have a game up at Down

I should also mention my internet has been somewhat sketchy the last few days, occasionally going down for 5-10 minutes. Just a warning :)

That's 2 hours from now? I'm in. My charger isn't geared, so I'll only be testing my bfsin. It's going to be hard keeping both geared since I only have so many charms, and only one 3 socket, high life armor.

I also started a fire sorc, but she's only level 6 right now.
