I am just wondering how many MP people we have. Personally, I like to MP for the social interaction. But thats me.
My question is, How many 'hosts' do we have VS people who cant but want to MP?
So I'll pop a poll so I can see the numbers.
This is for 2 reasons.
1- Im just curious
2- For a project I am workin on.
Good to see the poll functionality is still working perfectly!

I'm a host who MPs fairly regularly when I'm in D2 mode.
We probably have around 40ish people in the MP scene, which only around 15 would be active in MPing at any given time.

Ive had quite a few people join games I've made, only after I've killed 'so-n-so' but could not make so I could help them. That is what got me to ponder this.
But if the ratio of host's - non host's is low then I will abandon my lil project.
I guess a better question I should have asked is why do you like to MP?

If you're not against using multiple D2 DLL, just set up some dummy characters in A1 Nightmare and Hell. That way, you can help those that just missed out on something while using your own host. That's what I do.
And although the ratio of hosts to non-hosts might seem high in your poll, these days, if I want to MP, it seems I have to host. I don't think many of them are /active/ although it might just be because it's holiday/new year season.
MP is fun because:
1. I get to leech.
2. I get to lol at nubs that die, like Tank. :>

I'm pretty sure I can host, got a new PC and was having some trouble, but I think I figured it out, just haven't tested it yet.
I used to be a Baal hosting junkie. Then I was a quest hosting junkie. Now I just sit around and eat junk food...

I can not host but am getting more and more involved into the MP scene. I left battlenet some years ago due to the normal issues of immaturity and the obvious hax/dupes all over the place. It wasn't for me.
Now that I have discovered people like omg, liquid_evil, nagisa and so on, I am beginning to enjoy the mp aspect much more. Though it is embarrassing to take 13 minutes to kill Baal with omg watching. But hey, I am here for not just my amusement, I figure others can be amused watching me.
I love polls! The time machine brings back memories. Usualy I end up searching for some ban reason or so, heh. You and your cohorts. Lol. And such. Good times :D
Anyways, back on students house I got pretty pwn connection, but this year on exchange program, I usually get stuck behind router :( So no hosting for me. Im also the one "who belongs to the MP crowd, but is unavailable rather then ready".
edit:
I have often had this feeling of embarrassment, as well, watching while omg takes 13 minutes to kill me on the Moor... :coffee:
Well .. or dropping every 13 seconds becouse he gets bored and spam pandemonium fortress with gold pieces ... :-P

(I like MP. I can host. I played continually last week. I actually died to omg within seconds, as a general rule.)

well, my thought was, if there was enough people interested, I would look in to hosting an open server. Nothing big, but would hold about 20 games or so.. seems thats more than enough for the SPF. But it seems there is no interest, which is kool, just though it would be nice for all teh PSF'ers to have our 'own' server.
If it's not against the forum rules, having an open server would be GREAT. I would much prefer that than the hassle of setting up TCPIP/Hamachi games.
Private servers are not acceptable. PM myself and sirpoopsalot with any questions. Thyiad
