View Full Version : Hidden easter egg, O rly?
I was stumbling through the artwork media on the Diablo3 website, and I noticed an astonishing little critter lurking in the background of a random piece of art.

As you can see, he's obviously more 'fleshed out' than the rest of the picture. It seems that someone put in some extra effort for the sake of humor.
Just letting everyone know. It's certainly crucial info for everyone who follows D3 news.

Throughout history, owls have often been used as a symbol of wisdom, knowledge and wealth. I find that connection far more logical than the o'rly fad you're suggesting.
Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and war, is often depicted together with an owl, so the woman holding the sword in that concept art strikes me as greatly influenced (to the point of being a carbon copy) of her.

Nah, in fact, knowing how some concept artist work, it's probably there just for the lols...
now, assuming it isn't, well, the whole art piece seems to be in Tristam's cathedral, but in a rather lighty way, so, it's not the dark groomy full o' monsters cathedral, but a nice church which even follows a bit of life, like an owl...
Observations:
- there's laundry in the back room to the right, so someone lives here
- the person on the stair does not look like stone, it's real but not yet coloured.
- there are some books and bottles on the floor near the benches. Again it points to someone living there.
- there are little height differences on the ground, the one to the right has some water in it. The water does not seem to be drawn correct though, because it's lying on different steps and should be on the bottom. Unless the whole floor isn't flat and the left side is lower.

Are you talking about the owl on the left on the lady's butt? It looks like anything else in the picture. If that's an easter egg then those pews are clearly a reference to the Whitest Kids You Know - Popcorn Factory sketch.

What lols? It's just an owl. They exist outside the o'rly world, you know.
About the art itself, I'm guessing it's the Tristram cathedral, the person sitting on the stairs probably being Leah. Maybe she likes living in creepy cathedrals, who knows.
Clearly a Zelda homage, and nothing to do with setting the delapidated tone of the picture in keeping with the hole in the roof, puddles and plants growing on marble, what's wrong with you people?
This is Anya living in the cathedral.
The owl was just put there as detail and probably has no meaning.

You mean Leah, right?
