Avatar stickiness

I'd like to see a tick box in the avatar selection that says that your avatar picture stays with the post.

Now, if you change your avatar, all posts you've made have the new avatar. I just changed my avatar for yule tid. I don't want that posts before december 1 shows my jule tid avatar and I want that my jule tid avatar stays with the posts I 've made until I change my avatar.

That is not an option on vbulletin as far as I'm aware. It's something the creators of the forum software would need to address.

I imagine that might take abit more storage on the server too. From what I gather, at the moment only the post contents are stored in whatever database, as well as the username. Things like postcount, avatar, etc are pulled on the fly whenever someone views a post or loads up a thread. In order for the avatar to not change then the image would need to be stored with each and every post, which for the amount of posts and users here could get quite alot.

Edit: Though I've always thought a concept such as this would be interesting too, because then you could have "angry" posts, "happy" posts, etc.

In order for the avatar to not change then the image would need to be stored with each and every post, which for the amount of posts and users here could get quite alot.It wouldn't be necessary to store an entire image per post, only a reference to an image in a collection of images which have ever been active when posting. It would still be possible to chew up space by frequently posting with a new avatar, though.
