View Full Version : Why do people get angry about 5th class threads?
I mean seriously. As long as someone has a legitimate question, debate, or idea about the 5th class. What's the problem? It is after all the only class that hasn't been revealed. I personally welcome others ideas or insights (no matter how far fetched some are) that they may have on the class. If someone can crack the code on what the last class is. Well, that saves me from having to wait another 10 months till the next Blizcon.

I haven't seen anyone get mad over 5th class threads.
I see it on the official D3 forum all the time. Thats why I post here. People are more relaxed and less judgmental. But it still exsists unfortunately

Possibly because there's a special subforum for that, and it's not this one? ;)

That would explain it. I never look at that forum because it's full of people's horrible class ideas.

Haha, yeah, get on the Characters and Skills board on here and say "Shield-based char", "Non-Archer char", or "Bard" and get ready to rumble. :D
Probably why that board has completely died.

Personally, I dislike when people ask anything without bothering to check whether someone has already asked the same thing before. What they're telegraphing is "hey, I'm far too lazy to look for an answer myself, but I'm sure the rest of you can take the time to answer me". It's selfish.

...which is why it's annoying. The official Blizzard forums are usually terrible anyway, so you did the right thing in coming here.

You mean there's a subforum for people who have anger management issues?

Wasn't what I meant, no, but it's a great idea :D All game boards should be required to have such a forum!

I'm totally guilty of getting mad at 5th class threads. It's because they're all "i have a theory about some ranger petz lolololololol". Hawwwww.
its quite obviousley gonna be a bow class :p

Well Blizzard did let out it will be similar to a character in D1, so let's see, we have our warrior, we have our spellcaster... so we're only left with... THE ROGUE!

Hm. Well, we already have the two core archtypes of the warrior and the caster in place. In addition there are two off-the-wall types in the Witch Doctor and Monk, who are similar to these but have alternate playing styles. There's only one glaring hole in there - a ranged class that isn't a spell caster. Maybe people are getting annoyed because there's no challenge in wondering what the last class will be. It looks like Blizzard has taken the stance of getting most of the weirder characters out of the way first, so that fans won't be disappointed with the final one because they know what's coming, and they know that a lot of people are going to like it.
A rogue class would be really great, but there are alternatives to this. How about a slinger, or an expert in dagger-throwing? Maybe Blizzard has realised that by bringing out the rogue again, they might be simply re-hashing what's been done in the past. I see nothing wrong with that - it works, so why change it? Besides, the rogue had such a bit-part in the second game after being featured so prominently in the first that she deserves to make a reappearance.

i have a newsflash for yah!
the b.net forums have been populated almost exclusivly by the dregs of online humanity for many years now. there are a couple of good posters that, for reasons i cannot fathom, try to be good citizens over there (Bob_The_Evil comes to mind).
if the bnet forums weren't so full of jsp loving retards, i might post there myself occasionally.

Or "Hey guys I got an idea for a class I haven't seen posted. How about an evil paladin?"
Did something get done to the site recently? It finally keeps me logged in, wasn't doing it for over a year.

Please make the 5th class be her! No need for a male counterpart.

They can make a male version, but we all know that everyone will play the female one anyway if she looks like that!
Incidentally, where is that from?

It would be absolutely hilarious if the fifth class turned out to be an ol' crone/coot.
That'd cause me to die laughing.
Personally, I tend to avoid class speculation threads, probably because I'm too accustomed to them being filled with embarassingly bad ideas on most forums (NB: I haven't checked out any class speculation threads here, so I wouldn't know if they're filled with first rate, showers-of-win ideas), and perhaps because my own ideas bore myself to tears, so I wouldn't really be able to contribute to such a thread in a meaningful manner.
That doesn't mean that such threads make me angry (perhaps slightly annoyed), and in any event, I don't like the idea of responding angrily to such a thread JUST because I happen to not like them.

I dunno about the rest of you but I find that image a pretty unattractive. Non-human proportioned body, zombie-pale skin and slutty outfit = yuck.

More like YUM! I wouldn't complain if she was more humanely proportioned, but the pale skin and that outfit? Simply tasty.

I haven't seen anyone being angry about 5th class speculation threads myself, at least not here .. and during my few visist to Battle.net forums i didn't see it either.
Could the OP show us examples of what he is talking aobut (somone raving about 5th class speculation threads) !!!

Saying she has Non-human proportioned body is a far stretch, her anatomy is slightly stylized indeed but calling it non-human is really strange, and being into art and anatomy study i see her anatomy being pretty much "human" to me.
As for pale skin .. since when snow white skin is genuinely zombie-like or bad (at least you make it sound so) .. IMO it is purely a matter of taste.
Now we come to the Slutty outfit ... honestly .. have you seen the D3 character selection screen here http://i33.tinypic.com/32zq1b5.jpg .. most of the characters start the game almost half-naked (with the exception of the male wizard) .. the female witch doctor wears only two small pieces of red cloth .... call it slutty or whatever but is is done for various reasons, visual appeal to majority of target audience (let's face it .. it works), to make armor progression more apparent .. etc etc.

Her anatomy is obviously human, but the proportions are way off. Hips too wide, waist too thin, head too small etc. Compare her body with the females in your D3 screenshot - the sorc especially - and you'll find that they look far more natural.
While several studies (http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/119318887/abstract) conclude darker (tanned) skill is perceived as more healthy/attractive, I can agree that it's is a matter of taste. A long time ago pale skin was highly popular because it meant you were rich enough to avoid working outdoors (where you would get a tan), but nowadays it's the other way around ("poor" people have to work indoors all day etc).
The main reason for my disliking is because I know why she looks the way she looks, and why pretty much every game poster girl looks the same. I'm just tired of being bombarded with the notion that sex sells, which it obviously does.

I gotta agree, that archer looks weird as crap. Individually, her parts look nice, but as you travel up the body things become noticeably smaller than they should be until you reach her incredibly tiny pinhead.

I get kinda sick of the cutesy/hot female characters, which is weird cause I like playing female characters. And I'm a guy. ;) At least once though, I'd like to see some big, mean, normal(-ish) looking chick pwning the forces of darkness!! I'm not holding my breath cause of the super cheap "jaw-drop" factor, but it'd be nice.
Going off the current topic trend a little... and have to ask...
How come it's only 5th class? Has it been officially announced that there won't be 7 outright or more? (Just curious)
(I honestly wouldn't mind having like 21 selections to begin with X3 times with single skill variant X gazillion variants with 2-3 trees combo = super duper never been done before in video game history mega fun)

Yupp, from what I recall it's been said that there will be 5 classes, for starters. Presumably some more in an expansion pack :)

Yeah, 5 classes have been confirmed. I guess they'll add another 2 in the first expansion or so.
