As topic.

I come here usually once a day to check on stuff and about half the time I cannot connect to the forums and the main site itself.

a tracert would say something like "unable to resolve address."

I live in the NW USA if that helps anyone. Qwest DSL.

Thanks!

Hi FireMarshal,

Sorry to hear you're having probs getting here.

Can you do me a favour and grab a tracert next time and note down the time and tell me what timezone you're in. Next time you can get on can you paste it in this thread. If there's some pattern to this then perhaps we'll be able to determine the problem and sort it for you.

I was having that problem for a while. Ended up having to clean some malicious stuff from the computer and the forum has been working just fine after that. Perhaps you can try running an anti-malware/spyware program and see if you find anything. Those things didn't come from the forum, that I can assure you - just something you can try to see if it helps for you too.

Ok, I'll start keeping track of when I can and cannot get on.

As far as malicious stuff, I run a pretty darn clean computer  I will look into it though, thanks.

I'm beginning to think this is a dns issue in the region with Qwest. Daily the site is reported as unresolved and is only accessible intermittently. Next time it happens I'll post a tracert.

Was inaccesible again from 1540 til now 1840, I sent you an email with more details but heres the diagnostics from the time:

11-04-2009 1540 CST a tracert and pathping and a ping for diii.net came back with:

Unable to resolve target system name diii.net.
Unable to resolve target system name diii.net.
Ping request could not find host diii.net. Please check the name and try again.

I dunno if this helps but this was the pathping for DiabloII.net:

Hi Inokis,

That's just the job. Thanks very much for doing that report.

Man this is getting ridiculous. I've been unable to access the site for 6 hours, and now the issue is propagating to the other incgamers domains like worldofwar.net as well as blizzplanet and a few others.

I sent my isp an email about it and hopefully will get some resoloution. Its beginning to irritate the tar out of me and its only occurring with this specific network.

Are you anywhere near Irvine? I'm wondering if it's the same ISP as Blizzard because I got an IM from them the other day saying they had outages via their ISP, not just to us but other sites and they are having no joy getting it resolved with the ISP.

Inokis

Nope, I'm about 2000 mi away from irvine :P

I also got a canned response from my isp, check your cables etc blah blah blah if you want further help call the qwest help line blah blah blah. So much for email support.

I'm fairly certain theres a node that isn't translating the dns properly somewhere long the route. Diabloii.net has no issues and they share the same information other than dns so thats what leads me to believe its an issue resolving the dns. However, if that were the case i'm sure you'd have a lot more complaints from people in the central us and anyone connecting from the east coast as well that had any hops on the same route.
