I had an idea called Artifacts.
Artifacts:-
What are they:
Artifacts are small items that serve no direct purpose on their own, but when collected and combined (by manually placing an artifact over another in the inventory) they can be given/used at an NPC for various rewards.
How does this work:
-Every time a new game is started 10 artifact pieces spawn all around the world of sanctuary (spread across all acts randomly, some acts might not have them some might have 2 or 3 in its dungeons) and usually can be found in a special chest at the depths of some random dungeon .... if a player collects 6 out of the 10 pieces and combines them he can exchange them for a random Hi Quality Magic Item from one of the NPCs, if the player collects 8/10 he can exchange them for a Random Hi Quality Rare item from an NPC, if a player collects all 10 pieces he gets a Random Hi Quality Unique item from an NPC.
-Another use for artifacts would be exchanging them for Gems and Skill Runes, like every 5 artifacts can be exchanged for a hi-quality gem (not perfect though) or a medium quality Skill Rune.
Final Note:
Giving artifacts multiple purposes and and that same time limited number (10 per every new game spread out across all acts) will encourage players to seek them out and play the game instead of repeatedly boss-running the exact areas over and over.
And the Devs already stressed in many interviews they don't mind runs but they want to spread them all over the game instead of focusing on a couple of very specific areas that players farm fanatically.
