OK, so I decided to start a new single player character, and decided it would be cool to make a lightning sorc for it. Although the main char I play is Sorcs, I havn't played around with a lightning build, so I need to ask some stuff.
1- Will this be effective if I don't get all the "godly" add-ons? I know that a godly lighning sorc has tons of Lightning Skills +1 GC's, and insane gear, however since I'm trying to play this through and attempt to gather most stuff myself, that won't be an option until I either get those dropped, or at least collect stuff to trade on Open Bnet. So what I'm trying to ask, is will this build be effective assuming I'm not using total crap, but at least pretty good gear?
2- I'm unsure what Merc to use. Nightmare Act 2 Defensive Merc seems to be the general one used by most people, however I was interested with Barbarians. From what I heard, they have a ton of health, and tanking many hits works to my liking very well...
3- Going along with the equipment stuff, I plan to run Nightmare/Hell Mephisto when I get to that point alot. I know a bit about the Moat Trick (I've used it with my Blizz Sorc), however the only spell I've actually used there is Blizzard. Does Lightning work for it? Only reason I asked is I've never seen anyone reccomend anything other than Blizz/Meteor, and it looks like any spell would work.
