I have a slight problem...I've always loved the paladin because he's Holy, like the monk and he fights with heavy armor and weapons, like the Barb...He is right in the middle of those classes and that's what i want...basically a holy Barbarian that's not humongous.
I wonder if anyone else suffers from this issue and if anyone can help me choose...but just so you know...i'm already leaning to the Barb side.:whistling:

Wrong, the monk is the obvious answer. Has awesome beard, combo system adds more depth then spamming. Plus he is more agile type, and seriously with the whole palm organ damage( inside burst) He reminds me of Kenshiro from Hokuto no Ken (or Fist of the north star) in english.
Choose what?
The game's out in 2 more years (at least?)

I think the monk will be more fragile and have alot lesser life than the Barbarian, which will be the tanker class. So it depends on your gamestyle and preferences. Maybe you should wait till they complete the classes and skills before jumping to either.

The barb isn't even as tough as the monk is. O.o

I kind of agree, if you play tactical you could use all the defensive powers he has and the debuffs.

Blizzard is very strict about balancing, they wouldn't create a class without it's own weaknesses.

He just means that with the skills we have seen, you could use a lot of defensive powers at the right time and use evasive attacks ( seven sided strike) and bubble. and dash.

The monk is meant to be quick and fragile with hit and run tactics, whilst the barbarian is a huge old guy that's a mother****ing juggernaut, that's slower but bashes, smashes, etc. I hope they can really emphasize the differences between the 2.

It's so bloody obvious, they don't need to even emphasize it.

Light, fast melee, definitely, but it's a monk; the least fragile char you can ever have.

Well, that line about skin as hard as iron is from the lore. We can't take that as fact, or more accurately we can't assume that the Monk will have indestructible iron skin in the game itself. The way I see it, using D2 statistics, the Monk will have average Strength, high Dexterity, high Vitality, and below-average Energy. He won't be an armored tank that can dash in mindlessly without fear like an ironbaba can, but he'll have high health, high speed, high damage, and low armor.
Really, topic creator, you can't have both. The monk can't bulldoze like a Smiter with Holy Shield running, and the Barbarian has no holy magic to speak of. Do you want the slow, heavy physical powerhouse or the fast, light holy warrior?

That and I can imagine he'd have a dr% and maybe elemental res passives.

I'm going Barbarian before Monk. The gameplay seems simpler and it seems like a good transition from Diablo II to Diablo III.
