View Full Version : Barbarian, monk... wait? D1 exp gathering hare again?
Hi!
I was just thinking... We have barbarian and monk now from D1exp. But the last one remains. Bard. Only thing i see the cast missing is ranged physical and i bet bard could fit that niche. So what you say? Will Blizzard pull the trio back to D3? The blue posts before said that they weren't bringing any more old classes but were they only talking about their productions.
My bet that the last one isin't bard but hey, i TOTALLY missed the monk coming next.

When Blizzard said they weren't bringing any classes back, it clearly meant ACTUAL classes in ACTUAL Diablo games. Hellfire was an authorized expansion, but it was not official, and it is not considered in the lore one iota.
So while it's entirely possible that the new Monk class received inspiration from Hellfire, this is not what is considered "bringing a class back".
I completely saw a Monk coming. Not surprised one bit.
I suppose I could live with a Bard if they could make a really badass one... frankly, though, that's probably one of the gayest classes they could include.
Next stop: Ranger. Bet on it.
I don't think so. Remember Hellfire was not made by Blizzard.
Anyway, the monk in d3 is sort of a cross between a paladin (due to holiness) and the assassin (cccccombo!!! Martial arts).
And now there's a new meaning to staves. ^_^ Not just for sorcs anymore... haha

Including a monk along with a bard in D3 is a extreme lack of criativity.... So many games has those 2 classes, its a giant cliche.
No way I want a bard in my D3, i'm hoping for something more original for the last class.
c'mon stop moaning, the monk looks absolutely bad *** with his flash moves, kicks and combos and all, its definitely gonna be my first chara:), i think its absolutely awesome, and got me much more excited than any other class thus far

Yeah and no game in the world has barbarians or wizards? The class can be common but it's about how it's designed to the game.
Just to say that many of the people taught that "old classes" ment hellfire also. This can be seen as people have referred to old classes in their threads.

I doubt they would put the Bard in the game.

I'm thinking xpac, but it's gonna be there. Even if it takes 2 xpacs! At this point, if it was gonna be the 5th class, I'd think it would be more of a physical ranged/strategic caster type with some rogue-ish skills.
Despite the haters, I can hope...
The thought of a bard class being the 5th class bores me.. but I really wouldn't complain as I think blizzard could pull it off well.
And, yea, it would be kind of cheap for blizzard to pick a bard (hence making THREE of the five classes used in previous diablo games.. not a bad thing but blizzard did promise new classes (TWO is fine, only because I'm orgasming right now at the thought of playing the monk LOL)).

The classes merely share the same names, but do not appear to have anything in common ability-wise. You could always rename the monk to some other title if you don't want it sharing a similar name with the hellfire expansion.
Sure, blizzard could implement a bard class, but what sort of abilities would you want it to have? Is he going to sing? If it had new unique powers, then it doesn't really matter if the term "bard" has been used before. Conversely, if the new class is simply a rehash of an existing D2 class (say the amazon), then it is a copout regardless of how innovative its new name is.
I think we should be comparing how similar the classes are in terms of what they do, and not just what they are called.
