View Full Version : Best Sin Build for PvM?
Hi,
My fiance wants to play an assassin, and she doesn't really like PvP so she would be pretty much pure PvM. The problem is, I've never played an assassin before, so I can't really help her much on builds etc.
I looked through a lot of posts and searched a bit and couldn't find much pertaining to which build would be the best for PvM, I can say that she seems very interested in traps though.
I would appreciate it if someone could help me out and possibly link me to a guide for her.
Thank you. ^^
Hi Xydin
Try this link (http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=734413) just roll down till u get to the assassin section then see if can find something that u like, there isn't such build as the 'best' every build has her weakness, pure lightning trapper is weak against LI's wile firebomb/lightning trapper hybrid have less problems but her damage is lower.
U (or she in this case) can try those builds:
20 in tiger strike
20 in dragon talon (the first finishing move)
20 in Death trap (the last trap, don’t remember it's name)
U can go claw/claw or claw/shield or sword/shield, get elite boots.
Strategy: charge up (with tiger strike attack) then release it with a kick. Kill 2-3 monsters then cast the trap and chain reaction start. Rinse and repeat.
Or U can try this build
20 in firebomb
20 in lightning trap
20 in death trap
20 in shock web/charged bolt trap
Same combinations as before and almost same strategy except no melee required.
A k/t has very few weaknesses. It does require better gear than a trapper though.
Go pure trapper. You can mess around with other skills after you're done with traps. For lightning immunes, you just need a merc to kill one enemy, then Death Sentry will explode the rest. Some enemies ( Like Gloams ) are always going to be a pain since they don't sit still. Remember, you can usually run past/around enemies you can't kill.

80 light skills, 20 fire, ??? O.o I'd be running out of points real fast.
Well, I've done well with moderate gear on a K/T Dancer atm.
Got around 18 hard point in DTalon, 1 point in all the Shadow Skills (no points in Venom and 2 in Mindblast), and have maxed out Death and Lightning Sentries, with 3 hard point in Fireblast and putting points into Charged Bolt Sentry for synergies.
Its a fun and versatile build, however with the current skill setup I find myself playing much more like a trapasin than as a true hybrid. Were I to rebuild her, I would probably only max out Death Sentry for the CE radius, get Blade Fury and Shield (1 point each plus prereqs), and put all those saved points into Shadow Master and Venom.
The "problem" when deciding what assassin to build is there's so many different ways to make them even within a certain type, such as Hybrid Dancers being able to be fire, lightning, kick or trap focused.
If your fiancee is looking to be hell viable as an assassin, you might try a couple of things. I'm assuming you don't have access to high level runewords, so playing as a barbarian could afford you both Battle Orders for the increased survivability. In fact the two classes make a great combination, an assassin with even just one point in Mindblast and Cloak of Shadows has the two most potent CC skills in the game IMHO. This allows both characters to play upon each others strengths:
Barbarian can act as a main tank, adding plenty of life and mana along with decent melee crowd control with Howl, but can get swarmed easily if not a WW based build.
Assassin brings crowd control, along with Death Sentry for mass carnage once the first corpse drops, which allows the barbarian to not get swarmed, and in the event the sin gets swarmed she has DFlight and the high Battle Orders.
I realize most build questions don't involve party playing, but that seems rather funny to me, especially since one would assume you'll be playing together.
There's a good guide to Sins, one of the best IMHO located here:
http://www.theamazonbasin.com/d2/forums/index.php?showtopic=62415&st=0&p=700466&#entry700466
Has plenty of useful info. Realistically, any build you play will be fun as long as you plan out your skill assignment logically, and check synergies and such. Good luck!

gogo an ilkori'sin (http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=405240)
here's my cheap and cheerful kit choices for you to select from (kit marked with a * is the pick of the bunch, but the rest will work just fine):
hat: Guillaumes Face*, socky with a Sol rune, a +sin or +res Circlet of Life Everlasting (awesome for Nihlathak runs and makes your assassin nigh on PvM immortal)
armour: Treachery*, Smoke, Lionheart, Duress, Viper
ammy: who really cares, look for +skills, resists or iDR
rings: 1x Ravenfrost + who really cares
shield: Sanctuary, Whistans, Mosers, Stormshield*, Rhyme
boots: up'd gores*, plain gores, goblin toes, up'd g-toes, 2x up'd g-toes
glubs: Dracs*, Bloodfists.
belt: t-gods, dungos, string of ears, some nice rare, bladebuckle
weapon: Black, Stormlash*, Crushflange mace, Crescent Moon runeword, Gimmershred, anything that's decently fast with some CB.
booyakka, done.

Wait, where did the fire come into it? All light traps, no fire skills apart from the first pre-req skill.
Which gets maxed for LI.
This is the common use, and assumes you don't run around with an infinity (which not all do)
