Unrecovable error

I've checked other threads about this and tried variety of things like transferring files from the cd, reinstalling, changing around items and other solutions but none of them seem to resolve the error.

Whats weird about this error is that i went over to a friends place so we could play some Diablo II LOD over LAN and we played just fine for about 4-5hrs. took a break to get something to eat came back did some more quests and he tried giving this orb for my sorceress and i tried to equip it game would crash so we thought it was the item and just got rid of it. now when my friend joins the game i always crash soon after whether we're in a party or not. i'm out of ideas on what to do.

Did you notice any similarities between these crashes? And what are your computer's specs?

I used to crash all the time on my old PC. Stuff like maggot lair, switching acts were almost guaranteed crashes.

well at first it only crash when i tried equipping this item my friend had picked up so we had just gotten rid of it but then it started crashing roughly about a few minutes after my friend would join my game or me joining his. it would work fine playing by myself single player or hosting and playing by myself and like the odd thing is the fact that we played 4-5hrs with zero problems....

my specs are 2gig ddr2 ram amd 64 x2 6000+ dual core processor 9800 gt.
