LOD 1.12 bug

I just installed Diablo:LOD 1.12 and Now the NPCs can't talk and their dialog doesn't show on video i.e. when I pres "talk" and then something other then "cancel" the NPC isn't talking and the dialog box disappears. I tried reinstalling and the solution offered in the Blizzard support pages, and both don't work, help anybody?

If you haven't done so already, try copying all the *.mpq files from both the Diablo II CD and the Diablo II: LoD CD into your Diablo II folder.

Did you try this?

Escape -> Options -> Sound Options -> NPC Speech: Set this to "Audio and Text".
