I'm building a bow enchant sorc (20 warmth, 20 enchant, 20 FM, 20 orb, 10 static), with Death Machine and Widowmaker as main weaponry. Since I'm starting from scratch, this will be my first (and only for a time) high level character. That's why I want her to be effective in as many fields as possible. She's intended for friendly / casual PvP with a bunch of friends, and for going through the three levels of difficulty without any rush.

I wonder to what degree is it stupid to consider it will also be able to MF properly. To be honest, I haven't played Diablo for long, so you can consider me a complete noob.

The point is, since in durance 3 there are no fire inmunes (other than the occasional unique council, that can be isolated and dealt with thanks to the orb), I can't see why I shouldn't be able to chain-pierce through the council and dark lords with the Death machine, and then get to snipe Meph with the widowmaker, making good use of the walls and obstacles to avoid being hit, while wearing a rather good MF gear and switching to full MF weaponry and deal the last hits with orb.

my only concern is that the lack of FCR might slow down the route to durance 3, but that can be solved with gear switching too, right?

And about pindleskin, it's gotta be fun to jump in there rambo style bombarding all those zombies... Altough I can't recall if they were fire inmune actually :S

So, how viable is the whole thing? Is it alright, slightly uneffective or just retarded?

Thank you in advance!

Nitpick: it's Demon Machine, not Death Machine. ;)

... but to be more helpful, I did try something like this for MF not too long ago, and I simply wasn't impressed. It's much easier to build a generic MF sorc (in addition to your bowsorc for fun) that's going to be much more effective at MFing.

The problem with the Bowsorc is getting "enough" MF without sacrificing too much power is tough to do... and if you set up an elaborate prebuff for boosting your damage (worth it for PvM and PvP), you spend a lot of MFing time just getting your attack set up.

There are probably a couple of targets you can hit somewhat effectively (Pindle's ok; he's always fire enchanted so he's got high fire resists no matter what, and he spawns immune quite often), but as I said, a generic MFer will be more effective (and versatile).

If I had to rate this as an MFer I'd give it a 2 out of 10, and the primary reason it's not a 1 is because it's a fun build to play.
