Ok, so my orb sorc got pwned by a whirlwind assassin with really really really long duration mind blast ... i think i'm going to roll one cause they look like fun...

Notes: This char is purely for dueling i don't care about PvM at all. Its also pure melee, although i may have 1 point lightning sentry as a joke.

Some questions:

1) Does weapon block ever hard cap? if so, at what skill level?
2) does the critical strike on claw mastery ever hard cap? if so, at what skill level?
3) does the damage reduction on fade cap? if so, at what skill level?

(or alternatively, anyone have a high level skill chart for assassins cause i couldn't find one that goes past 20...)

4) if i put mind blast on my left mouse button (that's possible right? i don't have an assassin yet, lol), and teleport or whirlwind on my right button, would my shadow warrior just spam mind blast forever? about how often would it use mind blast in this case? Would it be worth it to put pts into shadow warrior?

5) about how much dmg would dragon flight do if i really tried? i'm thinking of putting 20 hard points into it but only if the damage would be reasonably good after doing so.

6) how does critical strike work with deadly strike? I heard they are two separate checks but you can never have more than double damage, which would mean they work together but with diminishing returns...

my current build plan is this:

planned gear (i don't have any of this yet so i'll have to go out and buy it at some point):
chaos claw, ( can't decide other claw, should i use jade talon or fury?)
not sure really sure what helmet. Is crushing blow any good? i might use guillame's face.
enigma, arach, trang's gloves, shadow dancers
rare fcr/ap ring + ravenfrost
mara's or some random crafted amulet with 15+ fcr and assassin skills.

9x shadow discipline gcs.

anyone tried this build before and have any suggestions, or anyone know the answers to my questions?

A lot of your questions are answered in Tienje's ghost guide - search for it.

To give you an idea, you're gonna have a hard time hitting past 60% block if that.
You can't put mb on left.

Ghosts are fun, but do have their own weaknesses - still would prefer over any sorc myself. But a sorc is at a disadvantage against a ghost unless they teleport constantly and manage to get some damage in without getting stunned.

The sin that beat you sounds like a Ghost. I'd recommend that (sticky for the guide is at the top of this forum).

LS isn't as a joke. Put no mor ethan one point in it. It's pure stun (the reason the stun was so long). Also, one point in WoF.

1) Does weapon block ever hard cap? if so, at what skill level? Yes, but it's @ lvl 99 or so :P Effective level is 26, which gets 60% block.

2) does the critical strike on claw mastery ever hard cap? if so, at what skill level?100% is the limit on that. You can have more, but no need. Also, the game checks DS and CS separate, but they never stack. If one fails, it checks again for the other, but no quadrupling the damage.

3) does the damage reduction on fade cap? if so, at what skill level?Level 50 fade is cap, since dr is capped :) I think it's important to not that all skills (+ skills too) along with hard points provide dr. lvl 20 fade = 20 Dr%, lvl 42 fade = 42 dr%, etc.

4) if i put mind blast on my left mouse button (that's possible right? i don't have an assassin yet, lol), and teleport or whirlwind on my right button, would my shadow warrior just spam mind blast forever? about how often would it use mind blast in this case? Would it be worth it to put pts into shadow warrior?Not without a mod. Mind blast is used to provide stun. It's essential really. Use it as a means to keep a lock, initiate stun, and things like that. The master will cast it, very often when MB is maxed, but not all the time. However, one MB is needed anyway. The rest is for small dmg and a bit of an interruption. Also, the master will cast when you're teleporting or busy with other things, like traps.

The master will use MB even if you do not have MB selected. This is not the case with warrior. Master is preferred. On top of that, the master can roll immune if her gear is good enough.

Besides, you can max claw mastery with no sweat, and that has the CS. Gear makes up for DS, which is much easier to get is larger quantities (Lo rune, Highlords, Gores, etc)

hard skill points:

Fade = enough points for max dr when cast (claw side or bo, which ever has more + skills). If you have enough, max for extra res stack.
Claw block. One point in here, THEN get gear and bo, then add until 60% block. how much added depends entirely on gear.
Warrior = 1. It's a prerequisite to Master (also one)
Dflight = zero.
You didn't mention them, but include one into:
DClaw (and prereq talon)
Blade Shield (and prereq wof, bs and sentinel, FB)
LS (and prereq cbs and sw)

@ gear

Fury is better than a jade talon.

CB isn't as useful unless it's a smiter duel, so try for a +sin / cast circlet. The fcr is needed for 65% fcr.

Next 4 look good.

also good rings.

@ amulet. Mara's will work best for you. You have 50 fcr from other gear (ring, trang, arach), so just 15. Unless you have the 15 cast amy, try for a circlet and keep maras. circ + mara will be better than a craft + guillaume.

As for trying it; it's easily my favorite build of all time ;)
