I have been playing diablo 2 for a couple months now and have just now decided to try battle.net.

My problem: I can only play on battle.net when I run it as an administrator. But my main character will not appear as a character option when I do play as admin.

So my question is....

Is there any way I can get my character from the normal account to the administrator account?

I've checked the files. And the 3 characters that work on both have ds2 files. But my main character I've been using doesn't have a ds2 file. So I don't know what to do.

OS: Vista.

It seems like you were playing in Single Player. This is why you have save files for those D2 characters.

D2 single player/open battle.net characters cannot be used on the closed realms (US East, West, Europe, etc.). The characters used in closed realms are stored on Blizzard's servers and not your local hard disk.

I don't think your problem is related to Vista even though DII and Vista do not get along.

So there is no way I can play my main character on open battle.net? I just have to start a new character?

In open battle.net yes.

In closed realms no.

Beware though, Open is full of hacks and cheats.... even more than Closed.

I've heard horror stories about open. :(

If you want to start on the realms, you need to start a new char.
