IŽve seen that many ppl plan on starting out in the singleplayer mod. The reason why i doŽnt want to do this is because eventually i will want to play on Bnet and then iŽll have to start all over agian...or will i really have to?
My suggestion is a FREE character transfer from singleplayer to Bnet. Tis way no one is going to feel like the first time they spent on singleplayer was somewhat of a waste of time. Imagine you find all the items you want on singleplayer and when you start playing online your luck has run out. So a FREE character transfer would kick ***:propeller:
Hey hey hey! Hold your horses, buddy. Firstly, Diablo 2 has that option... It's called "Open Battle.net". Just click in the main menu "Other Multiplayer" -> "Open Battle.net", create an account, and there you go. You'll notice from the first few seconds that people are just doing whatever they want there... with your locally stored character data transferred to Battle.net, you can let in characters that were modded using cheat programs like 'Hero Editor' which are okay to use with your SP characters. I'm sure that even in Diablo 3 it would be easy to mod your Single Player character. If you play in Battle.net, your character is saved on Blizzard's servers, so you can't really mod it. So... moving characters from Battle.net to Single Player is an option, but not the opposite. Besides, in my opinion, Single Player is a completely different experience from Battle.net, so I don't even want to any connection between the two.
A character transfer from single player to battle.net would NEVER happen.
Too easy for someone to use cheat/hacks to get uber items, tons of gold, stats etc.
Battle.net characters are stored on Blizzard's servers for this very reason.

I'll add that I don't see my SP gaming time as a waste. I've been working on my characters for years and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I don't trade in SP because it defeats the purpose of it, for me anyway. I use Battle.net as a means to trade for and play with all the stuff I haven't found yet in SP. That and to catch up with friends.
