Is there a way to get notified when someone quotes you in a reply, but not about every reply in that topic?

I don't think that option is supported in the forum script. Though I could be wrong. You can always subscribe to threads and quickly skim over them for new stuff, or bookmark your own last post and then only look below that, but you probably knew that already.

Default Thread Subscription Mode
When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

Doesn't such a subscription do exactly that?
