View Full Version : unrecoverable internal error 6fe1f26c
Halp! Halp!! I no can haz Diablo!!
I was playing multiplayer with my girlfriend over TCP/IP, when suddenly her game crashed. The error message cited an "unrecoverable internal error 6fe1f26c" referencing line #1646.
I did a search, and this error pops up frequently, but there's never an answer. I've read "bad CD, download from Blizz" but people counter by saying they've tried 3 cd's and a digital download, and 10+ reinstalls with no luck. I've read "maphack," to which the person says they don't use hacks (and neither do we). There's no instance of somebody saying "hooray, it's fixed!"
Has anybody ever figured this problem out?
Does she run any other programs at the same time as D2? I frequently got such a problem (not sure if it was the same error number, but it was "unrecoverable internal error") when I was running my torrent client while playing Diablo. After I stopped using other programs simultaneously, everything was fine.
Also try copying all .mpq files from the CDs into the Diablo II folder.
No other programs running. I know that I've transfered the music and video mpq files (we play without CD's, 1.12). Are there other files I should transfer that will help?
If you are able to play without the CDs, then you shouldn't need to copy any other files over.
You could try reinstalling the game, I suppose. Some times problems disappear when you do.

hey friend!
I could never find the solution to this problem on the internet. I formatted my computer and re-installed all the drivers many times as well as changing all .mpq files, however, I always got that (or this) error.
Therefore, I thought about why this error might be occurring. My video card and RAM are ok.
However, this error only occured with some map locations
I deleted the 'character.map' file from the save folder and restarted diablo, which seems to have resolved the issue. :alright:
I hope you will read this and it will help as I, myself, could not find help on this issue anywhere
Ooooooh. This is a solution I haven't seen anywhere else. This worked for you?
Thank you so much. I will give this a try the next time it quits on me (As you probably experienced, it's an error that comes and goes... Very odd and very frustrating)
