Alright, this is going to be long winded, mostly because I can't isolate any one thing that is causing my problem, and it's frustrating. I just got my new laptop back from warranty repair a few days ago. I am also in Maryland on a business trip and seeing family. We (My fiancee and I) are staying with my Aunt, who has Charter and a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. At home, I have the same thing. We both have similar broadband connections. The router are configured differently (though how differently I don't know...yet) My laptop runs Vista, has a 2.4 Ghz dual core, and an nVidia GeForce 9600M GT card.
Before I sent the laptop in, it ran diablo II without a hitch after I ran it in compatibility mode XP/SP2 and with administrator privileges. Now, when I try and play I get one of two strange issues. Either both don't happen until I enter a b.net game. I play for a few seconds and I either lag out (/fps showinf a ping of over 4000, and the game hangs) or my wireless connection physically disconnects itself from the network, and can no longer find the router, and I need to reboot the machine to get it working again.
I've tried running various compatibility modes, disabling and reenabling IPv6 on my wireless card, rolling back drivers, updating to brand new drivers, turning off power saving mode, updating the firmware on the router, disabling UPnP on the router, all to no avail. I've reinstalled Diablo II using blizzard's online downloader, and not only did it download 2+ GB worth of files without any hiccups, it stayed connected to the internet overnight with no hiccups. I've reset the router.
What else can I do to fix it?!
