Ok so i recently made a Blizz sorc (almost fully synergized, 15 in ice bolt, 20 rest, 10 mastery.) for doing Chaos Sanc runs. (I was actually going to test the boss drop glitch I had read about on Dia)

So, I just went and got her infinity for her merc. And I've been running numerous tests...and it appears that the conviction aura is not effecting Cold Immunes. I've tested in sanctuary and forgotten tower.

Oblivion Knights, and the countess and her crew retain their cold immunity even though the conviction aura is displayed under their feet. I've tried un-equipping and re-equipping the polearm. Logging off and relogging. Wearing the polearm myself.....etc.

Nothing appears to work. I can not kill cold immunes...and its not that they take very little damage or something, they quite literally take no damage.

Screens as evidence of my terrible dilemma :hang:

If anyone knows why this is happening and or if anyone else has run in to this before please help!!!! Thanks for any assistance:wink:

It's because most cold immune monsters have resistance values that are too high to have their immunity removed by Conviction. Most Lighting Immunes (and Fire Immunes, to a lesser extent) have much lower resistance values, so Infinity works much better against those.

There's a stickied thread at the top of this forum that explains it all.

as poops mentioned already, Cold immunes are the hardest to break.

You could try dual tree sorcs (meteorb if you like cookie cutting) or stick to lightning (since you already have conviction, this may be a good choice).

that sucks...i had read the sticky...musta missed a chapter =(

rebuild it is...guess i'll just go for the real cookie cutter and make a hammerdin. Rather then deal with the damn immunes... I always hated dealing with mercs anyway.

thanks for response however guys!

Lulz I don't think i'll ever make a Hammerdin... too cheesy, but good luck to you.

You should go lightning sorc instead. Those are very fun and there's not a lot that's left immune after you get the Infinity. Those that are immune will be dropped quite quickly by your merc.

Shouldn't the Cold Mastery -% enemy cold resistance be stacking with conviction to get past the resistance, or are enemy resistances just that insanely high for cold?

Maybe that's why I abandoned my blizz sorc. :jig:

No, its because Cold Mastery is only applied if the monster is already not immune to cold.

So if Infinity's conviction can't break the immunity, then Cold Mastery just won't do anything.

Thanks Jephery.

Well I guess when the New Ladder starts I won't be making another Blizz sorc (mine is incredibly gimped).
