View Full Version : Druid summons behave like Necro's?

I do not know if people here know this, but if you cast a Grizzly Bear with more +skills than you wear when you engage combat, the grizzly doesnt have the same stats.
When you cast him with say +30 summons, and you then fight with +20 summons, he is still a level 50 bear (moan), but his passive health bonus and damage and AR bonus drops to 40th levels when you switch. It is far better than just casting him (it could be a her) with a flat 40 skills as when you do at 50 and switch to a fighting 40, he is like midway on health and damage between 40-50 (he still is a 50 bear).
So, people use Leoric and then flip to other items. I was thinking that because Necro's dont use synergies on summons, that the same effect happens. yes or no. (I tested the bear long ago in 1.10 and it was so and has not changed to my knowledge)
thanks.

How can you tell? AFAIK there's no way to see numerically your summoned minion's stats....

as long as he can still steal picnic baskets, i'll be ok
I have to agree with Droid. How do you know that the grizzly is weaker?

did tests vs. players with no dr on and a lot of life. pvp.
I did this with Kirsty from Europe :) She is the awesomest.
took damage range from each case. it turned out to be less.
So, apparently, losing a skelly isnt the only thing going on, they are doing less damage and having less life as well! I really thought this was the case. The losing of a skelly means it is using not what it was cast for, but what you show when you flip back to combat mode, but plus the inate level of whatever 0 Mastery for those levels of skeletal warrior has.
Like, if you have 40 RS on a switch, and 38 skeletal mastery, when you flip, it has only 40 RS and 32 mastery. I do not believe RS offers any passive points to its own tree, and is a straight level = x damage. If it offers a fluxuating passive in the forumala, it would do less damage. I am going to "guess" no as it would be silly to extra code this as RS offers no other skill any sort of bonus besides itself.
If no one knows, this is certainly the case. skill based passive bonuses work like this normally. I wonder if it also works for Valkyrie. I would guess not for decoy as supposedly it is the frozen version of whatever you were. Valk and uses hard points of D/A/E. I would be inclined to say that any hard point skill booster is just that and no more so no need to worry about a switch on valk.
Decoy's life might be what you have when you fight or when casted. I read the faq but it didnt say on switch how it behaves. really, no one makes a decoy on a switch though as its insta-cast and constantly casted. (i think at least no one does :) )
I guess valk has no life or damage bonuses and a level 40 valk has only one attribute to being 40, that's whatever a 40 valk is.
So, if you use "hoto" and all those duped runes purchased on d2items/ebay/etc, you are actually using a much weakened skeletal warrior. This could be why tristram builds with awesome gear actually dont kill as fast as cheap gear. Cheap people keep the leoric on, keep +3 summons circlet on and ammy. This would keep
You're only losing the Mastery synergy, the bear shouldn't be weaker as it only gains from hard-point-synergies. Though the skellies will in fact get weaker if your Skeleton MASTERY goes down in points. but the switch is usually for a higher Raise Skeleton level (higher base damage, before mastery).
but if you're switching to something like Beast, the additional damage from fanaticism will easily exceed the damage lost from the lower mastery.

bear gains from non hard point and hard point, same thing as far as I can see.
Yes, if they got beast, it totally empowers them to go nuts even switched. Going HOTO however is a big crappy way to fly. 15% res all in leoric arm would do better.
That's how bears get like 8000 hps if you work them right as a summoner. Base points wouldnt ever do this right.

:agree:
*sticks paw in honey jar*
So it is confirmed?
If I summon a bunch of guys at say 30/30, and I switch to my MF gear where I am only 22/22, my skels downgrade to 22/22?
If I switch back to 30/30, do they upgrade?
