Has anyone heard if DIII will allow the player (or game creator) to modify the game settings to spawn larger quantites of enemies that would only normally generate if more players had joined the game?

Nope! Just a guess, but I'm thinking D3 will give the creator the same level of control they had in D2. Size, level restrictions, and difficulty.
I have not played DIII in at least 5 years, but I heard that this was added in a patch for DII.
How exactly does it work and do you think it would be a positive feature for DIII?

Nope, wasn't added in a patch. Might be possible in a mod though?
Most people would be using this type of thing like crazy for magic find and speed leveling.

You can do it in single player, but not on bnet.
Ultimately, If something like this is necessary I think it is indicitive of an imbalance in difficulty (it being too easy) or drops being too sparse to be fun.
Also the /players x command doesn't make monsters do more damage, just have more life as far as i know (possibly regenerate faster too...)

I think in normal they get more health but in nm and hell they dish out more damage as well. Though I'm not 100% certain.
I'm fairly certain I have heard this somewhere. Either way, it would be easy to implement.

Yes, that's my second hobby. :coffee: My first is trying to post on forums when I'm half asleep.
Anyways, thank you for the reply. I've been playing Titans Quest with some mods that either generate more enemies or make them harder and I find it boring to return to the normal game settings.
I hope the Hell difficulty for DIII will be so insane that it's a struggle to kill every last foe!

i wish that there would be options of names:
1st timer: which basicly a tutorial, like blizz con, you can do only 1st half anhour and whola, you finito xD
2nd option: hard: pleanty of monsters, like nm with lvl 20 char, kinda crazy hard, and at same time adrenallin pumping.
3rd option: insane: its like hell level with lvl 30 char. did you ever tryed it? but unlike d2, d3 going to have no immunes, so this kinda sort its self out.
4th option: imposible: saying this, i mean imposible. each monster is like andariel when you are lvl 10. kinda very hard to kill.
all this option are JUST increase amount of monsters for about 5%, but they become increadibly insane. with each dificulty, harder and insaner, you getting better loot, but just by 5%, so no much of reward, only adrenallin pump, for hardcore players.
this would rock, because game could be complited by lvl ~ 70-80 and with lvl 95 ( this case hammerdin ) you have not much of opposing powers ( beside ubers, but they pretty easy if you know how to kill them )
but i also heard that with that monsters level is now depended on 2 things: area and char level in that area, so should councel options of dificulty, dunno game is still in developemnt and we have just too little to make this decisions
