Thank you GLIDE!!

Hi

Long time player but not been playing for ages. Decided to whip out my copy of db2lod on my new clean pc XP build. Latest drivers fully patched and SP.

I was shocked when i loaded LOD. Everything GFX wise was so slow and sluggish. I was saying to myself i know it a old game and it is playing in 800 x 600 but for the life of me i couldn't remember it being this bad. Has it been really so long? :banghead:

* Connection problem ?- nope everything is fine, ping low, speed test says good bandwidth.
*Monitor or GFX bottleneck? - nope fps is maxed but for some reason it was really poor, moving like i'm underwater. Even the cursor was slow.
* Driver ?- nope got the latest Nvidia driver. WHQL certified.
* Hardware?- not likely 8800gts 512 and rock solid dual core running at 3.2Ghz. no other problems in any other apps or games.
*google search - not a thing about this issue.

I almost gave up but remember this trusty forum and what a excellent sticky pointing to GLIDE. Once installed everything all fine and GFX way smoother.

I was curious when did this become a driver direct3d problem? Was this a recent issue or has it really been so long?

you can also try to run the game in a window, that usually helps with most speed issues. but Glide makes everything look WAY better.

I get the opposite or at least when using Fraps.2d mode is slowest then Glide and Direct 3d is the fastest.
