I have a lvl 46 necro who has maxed bonespear and is starting to put points into spirit but also has guite a few points in the summoning tree for golems. But in nightmare he was getting his @$$ handed to him over and over again. I'm not sure what i did wrong but i'm looking to make another bonenecro with a tanker golem who doesnt die often, any tips from you guys?
PS: I play singleplayer PVM with no other players through TCIP
golems never last long
just use a clay golem and keep recasting him when he dies
hes just there to take blows for you not do any real damage
i put a few points in summon resist for my skellies, but im not sure if that would help your golem out too much, might just be a waste
but like i said, the golems never last long

Damn, well i suppose it cant be helped, thanks for the advice, i guess ill just stick to recasting and maybe put a few more points into bone stuff so i can kill something in nightmare
a fully synergized bone spear should be killin things fairly quick
also, this could help you out if you havent read it already

Golems can last pretty long. The question is how many +skills do you have? It is not that hard to get Clay up to 5k hp with a mere 1 point invested. He gets 25% PDR to help further boost that hp.

Attract curse shield or +Revive shield are good options for hard places.
I used 1-point glay (1-point glay, 1-point golem mastery) in my last bone necro. I also put one hard point *) in revives too.
*) I wanted to use spirit shield, so no +revive shield option for me
And getting white wand with +revives, hard to get and you lose revives while using weapon switch, so only hard point was option for me.
I even use 1-hard point in decrepify, so around 10 less in bone spear synergies as pure build, but worked nicely at pvm.
One golem and 1-3 revives kept merc save. Little less damage for spear (5-10 point less for synergies) but no need to run backwards anymore.
Less listed damage at stats screen, but more damage at field, as you can shoot/corpse explode while standing safely at same spot. And revives usually do enough damage to stop monster life regeration, so less spear shots per hard monsters.
I have used tanker golem (10...20 points in clay and mastery) in other builds, but no option for boner as synergies took so much points.
Bone necro cannot be finished. All bone spear synergies 100pt - prereq BArmor and CExplosion - 102, 1 Clay + GMastery = 104. Can be achieved on lvl 94 not really often necros go over lvl 90. 1pt clay + 1pt mastery 0pt SR. Survive quite well althought ele dmg is dangerous for him. Anyway you can add 6 spare pts in golem or mastery but there is much easier and better way to have good tank - make white in wand with revieve.
I have "white" wand wand with +1 revieve +2BS. I've paid for Ist it but it was worth.
Revieved Fallen has 4-10K life with average stuff. They usually survive better then golems. Best tanks are IMO ghosts from Demonolog sanctuary, but all melee attack monster can stop boss and give you 3 minutes for BS shooting.

Oh whatever, you can keep any golem alive and happy. No need to have extra bone spear or spirit damage to such a huge degree. It is so much easier playing having the golem not ever die than casting and worrying about the baddies comming after you. I like doing a max res defiance merc for such builds and a huge iron golem.
