Will Bone Spear trigger "chance on striking effect"?

Lets say I equip the Crescent Moon runeword.

It says "7% Chance To Cast Level 13 Static Field On Striking" and also "10% Chance To Cast Level 17 Chain Lightning On Striking".

Would my bonespears piercing through a group of monsters grouped around my merc or fire golem trigger these spells?

I'm pretty sure the anwer is no and that "...on striking" refers to some melee attacks.

That's because that Amazon was still using her weapon. Weaponskills generate CtC, pure spells don't.
