Cow King's Leathers ?

How difficult is it to locate pieces of the set ? Is a specific difficulty needed to begin finding it ? (ie. Nightmare, Hell)

AFAIK the chances for the armor and the boots are best in normal cows while it's nightmare cows for the helm.

I do my cow runs in Hell though, since it's possible to get some really nice additional items (high runes, socketables, etc). But if you want to search explicitly for the set pieces and aren't worried about peripheral drops, then krischan has it right... but you can find all of the pieces in any difficulty (the odds are just better in Normal & NM).


In 60 runs on /players7 with ~115 MF, I've found only the helm (and a Vex rune :), and some TC3's with the same odds as Ber/Jah :(). However, I don't kill The Cow King (who has the best odds of dropping the set pieces).

A quick look at ATMA's drop calculator and some very rough (and probably severely flawed) math tells me that the one piece I found is a reasonably-probable result (statistically) for the 60 runs I've done.

I agree that it's better to run hell cows and buy the missing parts of the set witha what you find, but if the purpose of it is to find it yourself, the issue is different. BTW, the cow king in normal mode is surprisingly good at dropping a couple of rather rare low uniques.

Yes, but since I play SP only, killing the Cow king closes the level off for that character.

You can open it with another char in MP/TCP-IP then get him out of there and kill the king with main one.
