Glitching Mephisto

Hi, I am new to the game. I was advised to make a MF sorceress in the beginning to build up a good collection of items. I hear that if I kill Mephisto without comleting the quest to kill him, all/most of his drops will be magic/rare/set/unique. If so, does that mean I should forego MF% and gear up my sorceress to strictly optimize killing speed? Or will MF% still help me get better drops? Thanks.

MF will also help when glitching a boss. Don't go overboard though - 300-400mf should be achievable without sacrificing too much kill speed and additional mf will only increase your chances slightly. 10 runs with 300mf will yield a higher chance for good drops than 5 runs with 600mf (during the same timeframe ofc) since mf has diminishing returns.

The glitched drop (for act-bosses) means that all of the items dropped will be at least rare quality (only blue items you will see will be failed set items), and the chance for unique and set items is only slightly increased. So without MF, you will see plenty of rare items, but lower amount of unique/set items - and those are the items you are after, rare items are mostly crap (if you don't count amulets, rings, circlets, boots and gloves).

The biggest advantage of glitched drop is that junk items like gold, potions, scrolls and arrows/bolts don't drop anymore, so more equippable items drop, so the chance for some nice unique item is higher.
