View Full Version : How much blue/yellow stuff do you pick up???
I was doing some Questing in Hell when i saw this Blue Armor drop. What the hell i thought and ID it. 3 Socks and about 60life. Well it was not that good but still... It could have been a 4 sock 100 Life armor, it was quite close.
So i decided that I will from now on pick up all blues and yellow and check them just to see if I'm lucky.
There must be quite many good Blue's and Yellow's just laying around there Unidentified and nobody even care about them.
So my question to you is, how much items do you pick up and ID??
For rares mostly class specifics, bows and Crystal Swords/Dimensional Blades (hoping for the eth/Cruel/+ to upgrade to PB :) ).
Not really any blues. I generally shop those.

I check all yellows in nm/ hell games myself , and check most blues to see if it's ethereal.(keepers sometimes)
Ive found a couple "godly" rares this season. (eth repair 400%ed ish throwies) and a 432% ed Hyperion spear.
the other neat blues I shop Anya for, so checking every drop isnt to important.
If your untwinked, check everything that drops and sell the crap you dont need for gambling.
Okay, I won't pick up every blue, but to this day I have looked passed almost every little bluie for 8 years. So I must have missed atleast 1 little pretty Jmod/Jewelers of The Whale and whatnot...
Im kinda like stephan about getting class/rings/amulets/circlets.
Other then that i tend to pick up 35k items and checking them while selling.

(Assuming that I'm running in Hell...)
Blues -- I always pick up rings and amulets, as you can sometimes get up to 15 resist all (maybe with another mod as well) on rings, you can get the "+3" (to a particular skill tree) for the amulets, again with the possibility of something else on the ammy... even if you're not going to actually wear it, a +3 to Amazon Passives / Assassin Shadow Disciplines / Druid or Necromancer Summoning, is always good for minion pre-buffing.
Generally I also pick up blue Necro wands and Sorceress orbs, as these are frequently worth big bucks when sold back to the vendors in town.
Only other blue stuff that I pick up are elites, the theory being, "they're always worth $$$".
Greens -- Pick up all exceptional or better set items. For the normal set items, I usually pick up only hard-to-find ones, for example Saunder's hat (which never seems to drop for me, for whatever reason). And of course if it's the one remaining item from a normal set that I'm missing, I might mule it.
Yellows -- Pick all of 'em up, but if they're just a normal (e.g. a Crystal Sword as opposed to a Dimensional Blade), I usually spend an Identify scroll on them to see if they're worth the space in my Horadic Cube.
Otherwise, same general principles apply, as for Blue items; it's usually worth keeping the Necro and Sorceress-specific stuff, as they'll get you $30K or more back in town, per wand, shrunken head or orb.
BTW, I have occasionally found some really nice Rare items with very high (+300%) ED, IAS, elemental damage, etc.; the best of these can rival a Unique, so if they're exceptional or elite, it's worth it to give 'em a look.
Golds -- Pick all of 'em up (obviously). The reason for doing this even for normal items that drop in Hell is just to find things that are near the maximum possible for their class, for example, a 300% ED Bonesnap (can be effective if upped to an exceptional).
Incidentally, I also always pick up elite gray items (socketed and / or ethereal) that drop in Hell. But I'm still looking for that prized ethereal +15% ED 4-socket Thresher, this season...

Everything, because I play single-pass and my characters need the money.
I picked up everything that's worth at least 100gp/square, even damaged/crude items like orbs/wands/barbarian helms. You never know if some come with +3 lvls to multiple skills.
Also, I need the money for my gambling habit, as well as replacing those charges on items. :whistling:
Anyway, my style of playing is very relaxed. I seldom rush thru anything.
