I've been toying with Auradin builds lately and I find I like the idea of dual dream and charge. You get a nice mix of physical damage and elemental damage. But I can't decide what weapon to use. The choice is between an ebotdz, for obvious reasons (30 to stats and massive physical damage), a doom zerker or ettin axe for less obvious reasons (+2 skills is nice, also holy freeze gets a synergy from the salvation which I maxed, holy freeze slows everyone down, and doom does quite decent damage) or maybe a beastz or ettin axe to make up for the lack of fanat and to give me more attack rating. I need opinions here, people. Help me out.
I like grief phase blade for the damage but more importantly the range 2 for charge locking is easier.

you've named lots of options except what imo is the best one, death ba. Tons of damage in the range of your "botd/doom/beast (up to 400%ed) , but death will have around 40-50% ds and cb. Tons of deadly strike makes those charges hurt alot more then the other options. Furthermore its easier to make and being that charge doesn't need ias its perfect for a charger.
40% death
30%ish Highlords
15% gores
85%+ chance of always hitting for double damage..

There is no cap on deadly strike, it can go up to 100%. And you're absolutely right about death, Zap. I've even got an eth death ettin axe with 372% ed on it I could use. Great idea. Also, how important is range to charging? Is there a specific range you want or is more better?

other way around, less range is better for charge.
reason being, with a shorter weapon you need less of a run-up to get charge going. with range five, unless your well away from them, you'll do a Normal Attack instead of charge a lot of the time.
i use an e-Death decapitator on my charger. he has an 18k-50k damage range.
fyi: that e-death ettin axe is potentially the hardest hitting one handed weapon in the game.

Yeah, I made a charger with the same weapon. But this guy's dream charge so it's gotta be one handed. Still very solid damage. The idea is that they might be able to sorb, and they might have 50% pdr, but chances are they won't be able to have a lot of both on at once. And if they do, eh, it'll still be a good shot.

Don't you have a problem with dmg overflow? Isn't 83k dmg /element/frame the damage cap? From the moment you'll succesfully roll a deadly strike, you have a rather high chance of doing 0 dmg.
Sorry for going Off topic, I'd personally go for grief on a dreamer. And how about a crescent moon?
10% Chance To Cast Level 17 Chain Lightning On Striking
7% Chance To Cast Level 13 Static Field On Striking
+20% Increased Attack Speed
+180-220% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Ignore Target's Defense
-35% To Enemy Lightning Resistance
25% Chance of Open Wounds
+9-11 Magic Absorb (varies)
+2 To Mana After Each Kill
Level 18 Summon Spirit Wolf (30 Charges)

To answer the first question, I've never heard anywhere of there being a damage cap. Also, from the numbers I've run and calculators I've checked this build has a max damage of about 13k elemental/physical combined before deadly strike. I also ran the numbers on grief vs death and with the extra deadly strike from death it does a slightly higher average damage. Crescent moon physical damage is just too low.

those damage figures are based on having 100% deadly strike as it is, so i don't run into the damage cap.

grief yes, crescent moon, no.
i've seen one dreamer use a 6os phase blade stuffed with lit facets. i think that would offer more than a crescent moon.

there is a damage cap of something like 86k damage.

auradins are only good for killing the unprepared or the naked.
the damage output just isn't very impressive.
Not even going too bother reading most of the responses
there is one clear cut answer
Grief(be in in a PB or a Zerker axe)

Actually, no. I ran the numbers and because of the high deadly strike a Death ettin axe beats Grief in average damage.

I would like too see your calculations.
Though thinking in hindsight you might be right, with enough of a max damage inventory the ~25% more ds does become more and more significant.
