Easiest way to get high runes?

Ok. I understand that high runes are extremely rare to get from drops and the best way to actually get any is to trade for them. What I want to know is what are the best items to trade for to get high runes.

At first, i thought its best to do tons of mf runs and trade till u have enough for a high rune. But this is extremely tedious. I would go days without finding anything.

Then, I realized that a lot of white items with good sockets are worth more than magic items and drop more frequently such as a monarch wit 4os or a 5os pb.


I have seen others grush and rush for forge.

The last method I have seen is hunting for keys and organs and trading runes from there.
What method have you found absolutely best in finding high runes? If it is white items, where do you hunt?

Lets break this in two:

1) selffind the runes. I never trade so this is my way . If you decide to take this path run LK over and over again . In 10000 runs you may get your runes . Another best way is Hellforge rushing .

2) Trade for them. I havent any experience here . But the solution is obvious. Run Hell Meph, Baal, pindle and trade.

You can find nice grey items if you run the pits in Hell.

The way I went was running meph until I could equip my summon necro enough to run nihl. The keysets have been my constant source of income as I can usually trade 3 sets for a high rune, which I can get now in about a day or two. Once I obtained Jah and Ber the time to get the sets dropped dramatically (tower and arcane = no bueno for summon necro)

Keysets/organs would be a way to go. And collect those runes from countess. Some of those runes are worth more than you think. Well that's if you trade somewhere else, where you can effectively trade 10 rals for a high rune. On bnet isn't it like 20+ rals for a high rune?

Another tedious way to earn some high runes, is to level yourself up to 40 so you can bump people all the way to act 5 hell. Granted there's a trust issue, which is why you wouldn't make this trade over bnet.

Personally you'd be better off using Prayer (the r/l kind, not the Paladin kind).

"Stealing and robbing" is likely to fail, as well, because most parents (including this one!) who play computer games have learned the hard way, and always put at least 20 hard points into Tin Ear, Hiding Key Disk, No Cell Phone, No Xbox For A Week You Shiftless Little Twirp and that favorite for themed builds, Allowance Revocation.
