Was wondering, will Deadly strikes double damage work with all 5 hits from Zeal, or just one hit? Does Deadly strike consider the whole zeal as one attack? Or just one hit from Zeal will factor in per DS?
Also, just to make sure im getting it right , is this how Deadly strike works:
Example:
Base max damage: 35
Damage+X: 300
Modifiers (Str, ED off weapon, skills jewelsed etc): 900%
Resulting in max damage 3350
So with DS this will be 6700?
And furthermore, with Amplify Damage on a 0% phys res monster this would be further doubled to 13400?
(also if all damage is double then my 250-500 Magic damage from Azuirewrath will be doubled too?)
And if I trigger 2 deadly strikes after each other, that would be the same as x4 damage right? Because I read somewhere else it doesnt work like that, but maybe they were referring to CS and DS together?
Just hoping some insight from you guys would really help, thanks in advance
I've never heard about zeal being different in that way, so each of the 5 hits are calculated seperately with deadly strike and everything(if this is not true after all, someone will surely correct me soon).
DS will only double your physical damage(not magic), amplify damage will also increase your damage further, it does not replace or override DS in any way.
I'm not sure how CS and DS work together though, say you have 20% of each, if they were calculated seperately that would mean you have a slight chance of doing 4x damage, but I doubt that's the case..there must be some kind of limitation to that.
What I do know is that they don't add to each other just like that, 20% CS and 20% DS is not 40% chance of double damage, it's less than that.

Chance of double damage = CS + (DS/100)*(100-CS) (http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=545&page=1#8.2%20Deadly%20Strike%20and%20Critical%20St rike)
from Diabloii.net Strategy Compendium
Deadly Strike and Critical Strike both have a chance of triggering a double damage effect. The Deadly Strike effect is applied after all other damage bonuses. Critical Strike and deadly strike exclude each other.
The formula of dealing double damage with deadly strike and critical strike is:
Chance of double damage = CS + (DS/100)*(100-CS)
Let's assume you have 33% DS and 68% CS, the calculation will look like this
Chance of double damage = 68% + (33/100)*32%
Chance of double damage = 68% + 10.56%
Chance of double damage = 78.56%
In all 78.56% and not 101% as the two factors added will give.
But since this is a kicker build it won’t be necessary to get DS or CS gear, since DS and CS does not work with Dragon Talon.
I'm not claiming any credit here so that's the quote as is.

DS doubles all physical damage dealt by a weapon, but not elemental, poison, magical damage and OW. Apply it last, but before amp. CS and DS won't work at the same time, so when the one is triggered, the others won't. You will have two chances to deal physical damage then, however.
Amp reduces physical resistance by 100%. Versus PIs, it's divided by 5, but physical immune monsters usually aren't well beyond 100% and they usually have low life (except the PI frenzytaurs in the act 5 ice tunnels). PI bosses with stoneskin will have an unbreakable physical immunity, however.
