PvM: UBER's

well this is a PvM question didnt really know where to post it, this board seemed best fit. I have a question regarding uber portals and a smiter

-is an Exile or Coa needed for Uber trist??
-are they needed for uber lilith,izzy,duri??

coa and Exile are very hard to come by on NL imo, I was just wondering if there was a better or cheaper choice for sheild and helm while ripin the Uber portals.

No and no. Actually you can get by on cheap gear, though you'll have to mf or trade a bit to get the items.
I have done ubers with a Duress armor, Spirit shield, Heaven's Light, Guillaume's Face, Gores and Laying of Hand gloves. I had a lifetap wand on switch and iirc I died once or twice to Mephy's conviction (it was my first time :whistling:) and used about 80 full purples, but ended up with a torch nevertheless.

#EDIT: Lillith is a nasty one though. Lots of those cursing, flying withces and she can dish out some serious blows. Carefull with her. Uber Izual can have OKs around, which makes meleeing dangerous, but other than that he is a walk in the park as is Duriel.

If a kicker like mine can do over 90 uber trist runs successfully, I don't think you need either on a smiter that has autohit ;)

what does your kicker use ?

It depends on minis or trist. Or really if I'm fighting meph or not. Take a look at the kicker guide in the assassin forum as I basically use that setup, though originally I started with a bartuc's/jade talon variation.

I tried it out using Shael Shael Heaven's Light, smoke, gores, draculs, guillaumes, resist amu and resist/leech rings, t-gods belt, griswold shield and some resist charms... cheap!

you need crushingblow and resist.
gulliaume's helm and a paladin shield with 4os and high base resist all 4x pdiamond socketed will be good.

NO and HELL NO.

You DONT need them ... But its nice to have them. They are nice to show off :P

You DO need: (1) Stacked the f up resists (250+) (2) Crushing Blow and decent damage towards the end of Ubers Health Bar - therefore good attack speed too (3) Life Tap

You DONT need: (1) Call To Arms (2) Pala Comb Skillers (3) Any other expensive stuff

Example of (relatively) cheap and effective:

Giant Skull with 2 Um runes
Duress or Smoke
Sanctuary shield // Spirit Shield or Stormshield with Um runes or Pala Shields with high base res and add ums or p diamonds
Heavens light, Astreon, Redeemer, Lightsabre, Azurewrath, fleshripper, fleshrender (add Shael runes where applicable)
Metalgrid instead of Maras
Rare self found belts with + res fhr life str or other good mods instead of
tgod or dungos
KEEP Draculs for OW if you have no other OW source
Goblins Toe

Tactic: Move slowly towards southern opening near portal, lure Meph out towards north, lifetap him with wand and switch quickly and smite him away. Take care of skellies after he dies, go lure Baal (traveling east and then south). Kill Baal and then lure Dia out, always tapping them and then switching to smite.

This is how im ubering now that Ive sold all my gozu gear. Smiter with so called 'crappy' stuff. When you get the hand of it you can do it quickly in around 1 minute 30 sec max. Also, a nice cheap CB combination is Astreon with Ber rune, Gores + Guillaumes = 100 CB.

Then if you somehow find a perfect pala torch, become rich and load on Ists and HRs, get Gozu setup and rush in and smite them to death in around 30 to 45 seconds. (4 this you do need Exile and COA Ber Ber + combat skillers and res life SCs as well as CTA, and gz weapon like grief or lwish)

LWish = insane CB, Grief = very high damage, and Dungos + COA Ber Ber = almost max physical DR, CTA = more life.

What gozu stuff does is basically give you a faster run of UT, since you got more damage and survivabilty / dr. However that doesnt mean it cant be done with crappy stuff. Hope this helps.

vs uber meph, my smiter uses a 4os pally shield [originally 40 res all], and its got 4x pdiamonds, so thats around 120 res all, and then he he's got a shaeled wiz spike, making atleast 195 res all
with a torch, and anni, that negates both mephs aura and the hell diff penalty, and the shield is the same as what hoz is, so it hits for as much dmg as i would with hoz

I wouldn't say hitting for as much damage as a hoz can be upgraded. If you're referring to the upgraded version, than there's the boost from the combat skills (though the difference isn't huge).

heh my hoz isnt upgraded, but even with an unupgraded hoz, meph dies pretty quickly so long as your res are maxed and you got life tap
with that setup, i ran fanat instead of salvation
