I'm actually in the middle of 7 classes project of shared send-a-mules on USWSCL which you can read about here--clicky (http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=722534) if you're interested, but I thought if I asked Damric or others here more experienced at Barbarian builds than I am for comments then the results might be a little better.
The Barb has two primary functions: be helpful in party play (hardly need advice for that, eh?) and be *easy* to MF/GF run hell Trav Council (and absurdly easy to run nm Trav).
But there are constraints: 1. very straightforward and simple to play, 2. reasonably fast, 3. most of the gear is set in stone (info follows...)
#1 is because forum members not used to baba play will be taking the character for a spin. #2 is because slow isn't cool. #3 is because I want the gear to be fairly cheap and I'm very partisan towards largely ignoring elemental damage (which helps #1 alot).
The gear:
misc. socketed for MF or resists, resist charms, and weenie barb torch
head: Blackhorn's Face
Ammy: Rising Sun
on weapon switch (for horking or polish off): dual Ali Babas (upgraded?)
body: Wealth runeword (in a modest DR/Str elite)
gloves: chance guards
belt: goldwrap
boots: decent resist mods, probably some MF, possibly some GF
rings: raven frost and dwarf star
The main left/right hand weapon (shield?) gear is open to discussion. I would prefer not to give him my Silence and Grief Phase Blades (too spendy) but they do illustrate the two needs here: damage and (some) resists. Any 1h weapon + resist shield or wizardspike covers the resists cheaply, but whatever works.
Between Trav cowardice and Barb crowd control I don't really expect that blocking is desired (but as Drognan says, I'll allow you to advise me ). Multiple suggestions are good, because I'd prefer something I have on-hand or cheap to BIN on trade forum.
As for skills there are fewer constraints: max BO, some (how much?) in Natural Resist and in Find Item (the only boost typically to these two is going to come from +1 cry and +3 torch, as you can see from the equip list above).
I'm in favor of effective builds using fewer points because that leaves room for toying with things like max Leap and War Cry and (?) Howl and Grim Ward for party friendly crowd control (and entertainment value).
Bonus Points for a build within my constraints that with the sub in of Enigma for Wealth (with Lawbringer possibly on weapon switch instead of dual Ali Babas) could be a decent hell CS seal popper (seal boss killer).
Thank you for your comments and arguments. Of course you (i.e. all forum regulars) are welcome to take the resultant barb for a spin (or even help level him up if you'd enjoy that--I do have 6 characters yet to do in that account, which will take a lot of my time).
p.s. comments on the merc are welcome also (my default cheap merc for "easy" play is act 2 HolyFreeze with Tal Mask and GA both socketed to max resists at 90 all in Hell, and Reaper's Toll socketed for poison for slow/decrep/leech but I've used many different mercs/builds over the years and this barb might better use a different one)
