I have this message popping up when i try to play diablo 2. I tried reinstalling already (9 times to be exact). When i click play a black screen pops up and that message pops up in the top left corner of the screen. This is what the message says.

----------------------------------------------------

Diablo II Server Exception

UNHANDLED EXCEPTION:
ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005)

----------------------------------------------------

After that another error pops up saying

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Diablo II: Game.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x00372c43" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried closing down my anti virus programs. They still didn't help. I played this game on my computer before and uninstalled it like 4 months ago. Now wanting to play it again i install it and this happens. Thanks for the help in advance!

Sounds like a memory issue - bad sector in the ram. Overclocking is one way it can happen, that or poorly configured bios. If not the ram, possibly harddisk - i never take the time to read all the details and logs for better clarification.

I'd definitely run at least a checkdisk if you're issue is repeating regulary/consistently .

how would i run a check disk? you mean from viruses? Cause i have norton anti virus and pc tools spyware doctor and i run them both once a day. I have 3 tera bytes of free space. I dont overclock my computer either.

Vista is a windows OS, so if you are running windows might be running Vista if you're not under an older OS like XP, or ME.

Did you read the link I posted?

Do you have any d2 addons installed?

bboybleed

i dont have any d2 add ons at all. Mostly people with this error can launch and ply d2 for a few minutes. Mine does not even start up. It goes to a black screen and the error pops up.

You mean the link that I actually posted *yesterday*?! I cannot believe that you didn't actually check the information I gave you - the link goes right to the error you mentioned - and follow it before posting.

Honestly what is the point of people replying to your request for help if you don't actually follow their advice?
