Diablo 1 - which mod to play?

Hi!
Me and a friend of mine started to play Diablo 1 a couple of months ago. We never played it trough.
One reason for me was the fact that you can't party with each other and that our combination was to hurtful for my friend (I played Sorc and he Played Barb).
Now, there are ALOT of mods, some probably better than others.
First of, are there any of them that incorporates party-mode?
Also, is there a consensus about which Mod is the "best", or are they just different?

Pref. i would like one where you can play coop, but also one that doesn't stray away too much from the original game.

I was thinking this time we play Hellfire, Monk seems really cool to me.

I found one that is called "The Hell", any1 tried it out? It's any good?

I don't know of any mods that have friendly fire disabled, although I'm sure it's possible that some do.

The general consensus is that The Dark and the Middle Earth mods are the best mods for Hellfire and Diablo respectively. The only mod I've actually ever played is ME, but it was an absolute blast.
