OT: Uber Hunt game

I'd like to form a group of SPF members willing to visit BNet for a game with a goal to kill the Ubers. It would be a group that would play in fixed time (Sunday nights GMT +1), totally untwinked and with no contact with other BNet players. The goal is to quest through all difficulties, kill Hell Baal, collect the Keys, fight the Mini Ubers for the Organs and finally to kill the Uber Tristram three.

Some rules and regulations:

1. The game would be on at Sunday nights starting at 6 PM GMT+1. You don't show up, you're out.
2. It will be a SC game, I don't want to loose players because of lag issues and such.
3. Using only items we find, sharing among players is required and encouraged as we are a team.
4. Avereage playtime per session will be 3-4 hours.
5. All quests must be solved, all waypoints collected.
6. No mules to hold items, we play this as a roleplaying game, you have your backpack and your stash.
7. It would be very cool if we could configure a voice chat system, Skype conference call will work well.

Killing Ubers is not an easy task, or so I've heard, but I'd like for us not to make a cheese party made of smiters and hammers. A representative of every class would be welcome.

Rule number one will be more rigid at first. We will probably lose some members along the way, and with fewer players in game it's easier to meet half way.

Good idea, if you want it to be challenging you should limit lifetap and crushing blow to a certain extent.

Killing those guys in a full game with untwinked gear seems like a challenge to me ;) Crushing blow will not be as effective as in p1 game, and life tap won't save you from a OHKO. I might be wrong though, I never played an Uber game so all comments and suggestions are very welcome.

Limiting CB per char should be doable, but I don't see a way to do the same for life tap, except to ban it all together (not sure if that is such a good idea though).

What realm will you be playing? Europe, I assume. May make a difference for Ping times....

Also, remember that you should play on realm with a clean install of D2. No .dll mod and no RWM/RRM mod, or you risk losing your bnet access.

@Smips - I think you've got the time backwards. 6PM Sunday +1 GMT should be about 1PM -5 GMT, I think? Pretty sure you'd be playing in the middle of the afternoon, so would I.

I'm thinking of joining, but don't know if I can commit to it just yet. Sounds great and it would be fun to fight the ubers again.

Generally, it's getting the keys that's the trouble, Lillith is murder and getting to Izzy is no fun either (Immune Balrog's (IIRC, immune to all elements and magic, meaning I think the only way to hurt them is physically or with hammers) and Obv knights together *shudders*). It's been awhile and I did it for profit, so it was my enigmadin and a buddy's zmiter, so it didn't really matter what the immunities were.

Doh, I always do that :P. Perhaps I can join then, I will have to think about it. I some times have to drive my girlfriend back to school(which is 30 mins away), so it may interfere.

The realm will be probably Europe, but if the majority of players is from USA then we can play on East.

Good point, I forgot to mentions that. Clean install people, no mods, no modified dll files and such, you are risking a perm ban otherwise.

I've never attempted the ubers so I'd like to try it too. However, college work may get the better of me.

I suppose this is going to be untwinked but since I recently moved from EUScL to SP I could pour some high-end gear on you ;) Heck, you could even have my complete Uber-Smiters gear :p or just some twinking stuff if you'd like... The only thing I want is that if you intend to stop the ladder, dont let the gear rot and expire but give it away in the Europe Trade Forum =)

I'll go with trap/kicker. Traps to get us through mobs, and kicks to apply CB on bosses. MB for crowd control.

So, how's in? We'll start tomorrow, exact time can be agreed on as this won't be a full game obviously.

If you're interested joint the hunt, and if you find out later it's not working for you it won't be a problem. RL is RL, D2 is a game you play for fun :yes:

I'm not sure how far you've gotten, but good luck with the Ubers. I was nearly untwinked when I first ran them, and they're all quite easy, even Lilith, except UMephisto. My very first solo untwinked run, I must have died at least 20+ times to Mephisto alone. I hope one of you is a Paladin, or else you're going to be in for some fun. ;)

We arrived to Outer Cloister WP, level 11 or something like that. I'm playing something like the warrior-monk build with more emphasis on trap and no Venom. Eddie is a pally, so I think we stand a chance ;)
