So I have this orb sorc that needs alittle help.

I'll start off with giving ya the stats/skills/ and gear I have.

Level 88
str: 139 (with ****)
dex: 86
Vit: 249
energy 244

hp: 730 Mana: 758

Gear:
Occy non socketed
NightWing 13%- non socketed
Tal armor - p topaz
tals ammy
Lidless with p dia
Trang gloves switched out with 40% chancies
30% nagel and a FCR ring
tals belt
49%war travs
10/19 sorc torch and 14/10 anni and 118/39 gheeds

I do 691 to 723 dmg orb.

My merc:
Infinity, tals mask, and some armor..

I'm running into issues with cold immunities.

So my question: What would be the godlyist setup I could have to remove immunities?

5/5 cold facet in a 15% NW, a 30% fathom, a Lidless, and tals armor?

making some 65% added cold dmg with -20 cold.

Add that to the level 12 conviction with the merc and could I do Countress runs without having to make my merc kill them all?

I'm mainly looking to get this char to do key runs.
If not, should I make a pure light sorc with the items I have or continue work on my 86 hdin?

Any input would be really helpful,

Thanks,
joebauer

ela!

- That is great equipment you have! It would be a shame not to use it in a right way...
- Immunities can be broken only with Conviction and Lower Resist; any time, anywhere.
- Read ''comprehensive understanding of broken immunities'' sirpoopsalot has kindly written for better understanding. It is 'under your nose', on top of the Sorcy forum.

- I advice you to make Lightning Sorcy, cose lightning immunities are brakeable 90% of the time. It is only important to have Griffon's Eye, Lidless Wall, Crescent Moon or anything what is equipping you with -% ELR.
- You can wield Infinity yourself if you want, but if it is on your merc then -50% ELR from infinity will count only for your merc; you benefit only from Conviction aura.

- So i'm telling you; make pure lightning or dual element Sorc as you like, just take care to have at least -15% for broken element, otherwise you will do 1% - 2% of your dmg when Conviction brakes it.

Like sike said, adding facets & such won't help you remove immunities - either Conviction and/or Lower Resist do the trick on their own, or nothing does. Unfortunately for you, many/most cold immunes have such a high cold resistance that their immunities simply can't be removed.

For key runs, a lightning sorc is among the best - since those areas don't spawn with a ton of lightning immunes, and the ones that do spawn can usually have their immunity removed by Conviction, you won't have nearly as many problems with immunities as with a cold sorc.

Cold is great until Hell, then it tends to fall apart except for hunting in certain areas. Like Poop said, don't plan on breaking cold immunes, as their resist is almost always too high for conviction alone and even if you had lower resist also, most would fail to break regardless.

I had a dual tree myself and built a pure light. Once she had her merc running infinity there was no going back. Unlike cold, the majority of lite immunes can be broken with conviction, but even more importantly she's far more versatile than a pure fire or cold, and will outperform any dual tree sorc overall. And I actually do tend to use my sorc over my trapper for key running since she can tele faster for less fcr.

While an hdin could work key running, I wouldn't recommend it, especially with the walls killing the spin in 2 of your 3 key hunting areas. A Light sorc is just far more efficient for key running.
