View Full Version : [Request for Information] Trading and gameplay terminology
Hello all,
I would like to request a sticky thread where terminology used on this forum is described as well as some aspects of gameplay pertinent to SP trading. I believe this would help introduce newcomers as myself to this exciting possibility of SP trading. In short, I'm asking for a traditional FAQ. Not a rules list disguised as a FAQ, as exists right now.
Some examples of things that are less clear to me:
- What exactly means ISO?
- If trading with other Single Players, don't I risk the possibility of generating dupes even if their items are legit?
- This one is probably not FAQ material... Why isn't hotmuling banned from NTPP and SPF trading? Isn't this gross cheating comparable to item hack/duping?

You need to read the trade rules mate, all the answers are in there
ISO = In Search of FT=For Trade
Not if you don't want to (everything on this forum is legit, you may want to read the SPF stickies, if you want to cheat go elsewhere)
No, it's accepted; if you want to be here, you're gonna have to accept it too (I personally have never hotmuled)
EDIT: hmm ISO isn't in the trade rules, you're right

I have. Several times. And although I could gather the general meaning, there doesn't seem to be any indication up until now of what the acronym meant. Thank you.

Umm... I don't want to cheat. What made you think I wanted to cheat? Instead I'm under the impression by trading items with other players, I increase the odds of obtaining items with the same checksum. Since I don't know how this goes, I'm asking for more information.

I'm sorry. But I find that slightly offensive. Besides I was under the impression the Profile thread allowed me to set my own rules for trading (which I did), as long as those rules don't go against the general rules established by the SPF.
Not exactly a shining light on how to make a suggestion but I'll answer you anyway:
We have rules. We have FAQs. You can't necessarily separate the two. So there is one thread. Look at it this way; it's even less for you to read.
1) Terms and Abbreviations thread (http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=538888), Stickied in the Newcomer Forum and linked to from the first post of the SPF FAQ. I presume this escaped your notice?
2) You are encouraged to read around a persons post history. That is the MINIMUM amount of effort you should put in. We operate on a trust system here. We can't Moderate for stupidity or laziness. If you aren't willing to do your own research and make judgement calls and take the risk that you will be deleting stuff if there's a problem later; don't trade. It isn't a right nor required to beat the game. See the many many untwinked Guardians/Mats/Pats here. We have a whole Sticky of them.
3) If you ever suggest hotmuling is on the same level as duping again, you will be taking a vacation from this forum. Check the Accepted Gameplay Rules - post 9 of the SPF FAQ and also linked to from the SPTF Rules. Unless you expect the entire D2 SP Community - not just diii.net but ALL of it - to do a restart hotmuling is in the trade pool. Deal with that or don't trade.
EDIT:
Terms thread linked to in SPTF Rules.
Any questions PM myself and sirpoopsalot.
