Hey guys,

I am new here and I am curious about the FOrb/MF Sorc

I am level 84 and :
20 FOrb
20 Ice Bolt
20 Ice Blast
20 Blizzard
1 static
1 teleport
1 warmth
a few in CM

As this build., what should I be farming?? I notice there are many cold resists in baals throne room which prohibit me from doing anything =/

Also, where should be point allocations for stats be at 99 for base?

Thanks!!!!!

Maxing both Orb and Blizz is a waste. Pick one.

Cold sorc's rough mf run: Mausoleum (near Blood Raven), Andariel, Ancient Tunnels (trapdoor in Lost City), Travincal, Mephisto, Pindleskin. Other areas are doable with a strong merc.

Str for equip, no dex or dex for block, all vita.

Btw, you should checkout the stickies and read the build guides first. Anyhow, welcome to the forums :)

Thanks!
I just read some, but most of the build ones are outdated (2005/04) etc..

But The places you listed to go seem to be the same, so that is cool.
Looks like I am re rolling my 84 tonight as I got orb and blizzard max =/

/cry

Lol..

So I am to understand,

STR - enough for gear
DEX - base
VIT - as much as possible
ENG - base

??

The guides are a few years old, but still just as relevant; the game hasn't had a major balance update in several years.

As for your build, maxing Blizzard and Frozen Orb is redundant- they serve the same purpose, have conflicting timers, and do the same kind of damage. Either go for pure blizzard, or try the meteorb build*.

*NOTE: despite the name, meteorb mostly uses fireball with frozen orb. Meteor just makes the name sound better.

I don't see a problem with having both maxed (for style and fun), but as much as I like the cold tree, the places I prefer to hunt typically have cold immunes. But if you're gonna go blizzard, its hard to not recommend just focusing on synergies.

Fireball + FO =

The Bowler?

Ballgirl?

Trying to make a sports analogy here... ;)

If you want to mix Blizzard + FO, perhaps you could look into playing a Blizzard, FO, FireWALL sorc?

20 - Ice Bolt
20 - Blizzard
20 - FO
1 - Shiver Armor
1 - CM
4 - pre-reqs

20 - Firewall
1 - FM
1 - Blaze
1 - Inferno
1 - Warmth

1 - Static
1 - TK
1 - TP
-------------------
93 pts invested

If you can work within Firewall's limitations, its do-able. Firewall would probably be best when your merc is tanking something, so in open spaces against fast rushing CI mobs in Hell, you might have a bit of trouble, which probably means a max-block build with NM Act 2 Def (Holy Freeze) merc, but I wouldn't begrudge you to try it.

Meh... official name is Meteorb :P

Blizz + Orb is already an inefficient use of your skill points, adding another attack to the mix only makes it even less appealing. Orb or Blizz alone + Firewall, on the other hand, are more popular.

I made a Blizz MF Sorc and thats pretty powerful and allows me to kill quick due to the mass damage from it.

I only run the areas that have no cold immune (Unless my Merc can break the immunity).

If I was you, i would restart and make a Blizz MF Sorc (I did that, and not regretting it so far)

If you consider restarting, I couldn't recommend anything other than a pure lite sorc - but by that point you need to have some resources to get her at least some of the gear that makes her so versatile in hell mf.

Pure Lite sorc is really expensive IMO.
If your poor (And cheap) like me who just started ladder, start with Blizz and MF your way up and eventually make a Pure Lite.

I have lv 92 cold mf sorc and i can mf all areas of the game but then again my act2 might merc is quite geared, cold immune areas just goes a little slower.

Only diablo is a bit of a hassle as IM+ cold immunes are a *****.
But as the others have said its usualy either blizzard OR orb.
then again my sorc is my first d2 char that i have kept out of nostalgia so its skill allotment quite horrible. :)

Any sorc can be "expensive" depending on what you put on them. My first was a FO/CL and while it got the job done, she doesn't hold a candle to anything else I have. She's now a lvl 89 mule in full tals. She funded a bit for my trapper and my light sorc, though they helped to pay for themselves too.

Blizzard just has too many limitations by itself. My usual spots have cold immunes...

But if anything, there's always nm mf, and good things do drop in there =)
