I was in Uber tristram with a friend when I died. Shortly after we were both dropped from the game. When I came back in the game I retrieved my corpse from town, and 90% of my stuff was completely gone! My HotO flail I just made, Herald, shako, my rings and ammy gloves and boots. Can someone please shed some light on this matter because I'm pretty pissed about this whole thing.

Did you have more than one corpse on the ground when you dropped?

Or did you happen to have a full inventory already when you died?

If you keep dieing, you can have up to 16 corpses lying on the ground and the game will only carry over the one with the most gold value when sold to vendors. So, if you had one or more corpses, you only carry the most valued one to the next game...all the others go bye bye. On top of that, the game does not value rune word items or uniques very high on the list, so those are usually the ones lost.

If the above is not the case, then there's one other thing that might have happened. Did you have a full inventory? If you did, then when you died, all your equipped items fell on the ground and did not go into your inventory. Normally equipped stuff goes into inventory on death, but if you habe no room you "Pop" as we call it. If you got dropped and your stuff was on the ground, it's gone.

I'm aware of that "popping" method, as that has happened to me before aswell. This is different, and I think your first explaination is the correct one. Personally I don't know why Blizzard would have such a rediculous method of the corpse gathering. Thanks for the info nevertheless

Happened to me once tho, luckily i didn't lose anything of greater value.

I believe you don't actually 'pop' any more.
