I never noticed this before, but at 8:17 in the video you can clearly see two arrows sticking out of the zombie's chest. It's the part where the barbarian just lets the two rangers who were guarding Cain shoot the zombie.

Cool stuff, I wonder what other things like this we will see? Sorry if this is old news but I never noticed it before.

It's hard to tell, but nice find.

Thanks! I just decided to watch it again and tried to force myself to look at areas on the screen I had not watched before and it popped out at me. I was like, whoa wait a second, did I just see what I thought I saw?

Is there a thread somewhere that captures all these AHA! moments so I can see what else I may have missed?

Awesome news! This was precisely one of my greatest wishes, if you can beleive that. I know it sounds petty, but this is perhaps the best news I've heard yet.

Blizzard has at last taken immersion to THE NEXT LEVEL! This is very exciting. I'm so tired of every game doing things the cheap lazy way. Blizzard puts in a bit more effort, which is just what d3 calls for.

Wow. D3 is going to blow my mind just because of this one new feature.

Well, I'm going to watch the video again to look for it. I DID look for it before, but no success. As of now, my general impression is that the arrows look like they disappear. Hopefully, it's just the fire masking the embedded arrows.

Is anyone else making a trip to the liquor store over this? This is very important stuff!

Edit: I couldn't find it. Also, the archer shoots the Thousand Pounder 3 times and there are no arrows sticking in. I think what you saw might just be the arrow in the air as it's hitting (unless someone can provide an up close image).

they copied that feature from WoW... obviously it must be scrubbed from the game...

/rolleyes

Yeah, i'm not completely convinced those are arrows and not just some trick of the light. then again, arrows could still stick into objects, but the Guards' arrows explode with fire and are destroyed.

I've watched that part another 20 times, and I'm sure it's arrows sticking out. You can two arrows after the first volley, and then right before he dies you can see 4 or 5 sticking out of him.

I did manage to get one screenshot that I think shows the arrows pretty well, I just need to find a place to host it. I'll do that later today, but in the meantime watch that part a couple of times and zoom in as best you can while you're watching. If you have a Mac you can go to Accessibility Options and turn on Zooming to make it easier to see.

oooh fancy hes like a pincushion :P
def hinting at a ranged class/ bow items...
and i think its good the arrows dont stay forever... cause uh in d2 u had to shoot a ****LOAD when u had a not so amazing bow early on... i dont wanna see a hundred arrows sticking out of one monster...too much crap to render which = lag

but uh arrows sticking out of player characters is awesome ;) hehe but uh again not for super long.

That would be a neat idea for a unique armor. Something with horridly low defense, but maybe some thorns damage on account of the arrows.

now that we are discussing game play video anyway, perhaps someone knows something about this.

At 7:32 you can see the big boss lift a character and bash it to the ground killing it. At 8:06 you can see the boss bite of the head of some of the characters. I'm wondering, are these just cool dead mechanisms or is this a one-hit-kill attack?

P.S. I'm watching it here.

The last boss in the video? They just added those deaths to make the video cool, but since people liked it they said they would try to add it in. So basicly if a boss hits, and that attack would kill you, then it does a special attack like that.

Just imagine the possibilities! burning arrows hanging from poor monsters, schorching their wounds with searing pain, trailing smoke as it burns flesh...glowing lightning arrows that spark enemies with constant shocks...acid-dripping bolts of death eat terrible holes at ur target's body.
And i didnt mention all the unique arrows/bolts, which might leave brilliant marks of destruction on the requested foes ^_^

Did the screenshot I posted satisfy everyone that there are indeed arrows sticking out of the zombie?

It is interesting to see that the consensus seems to be that this is a confirmation that there will be a bow class, not that anyone really had any doubts before.

Hell, very old game called NeverWinter Nights has this future why would 2015 Diablo3 do not have it?

I don't even think Neverwinter Nights (2002 btw) was the first to have it. Can't recall playing a game lately that DOESN'T have it. Yup, by now a completely standard feature.

Didn't a Shortbow drop for him somewhere along the line?

There is a problem though: the merc doesn't fire that many arrows at it. The screen shot is very impressive, but we can see it is peppered with arrows even though the merc didn't pepper it with arrows. So maybe the zombie had those arrows in it to begin with? It's kind of like d2 skellies spawning with arrows in their shields.

Sorry to nag, but if someone could zoom in on the same zombie and check to see if the arrows are in there to start with that would be good. I can't see much because even though I have a huge monitor, the window size of the gameplay video on Blizzard's site makes everything seem tiny.

[Btw, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for SNES had arrows that stuck in the walls and bad guys for a few seconds. It looked very good, and that game is old.]

I just checked the vid again and there is definitely a new arrow sticking out of the zombie for each shot.
