View Full Version : Socket advice for WF
I'm a Strafer, not a MS bowie, so I dont need to Shael it for IAS. I have a 37% ED/+12 Max jewel, but I dont know if that will really give me much appreciable bonus since it already has 200+ max and 200+% ED.
I currently just have an Eth for -25% defense, since my AR is low and it works against bosses
What I'm thinking of right now is either a 15% Resist All jewel, since the only things that kill me (besides lag) are getting alphaed by Black Souls and Abyss Knights, or sticking in a Jah for ITD (which doesnt work vs bosses) or a Cham for Freeze +3 (Does this even work much? I'm a Hit Slows Target strafer so it would complement my strategy) or a Ber for more CB, since I currently run with Gores+Duress.
Any other ideas?
What about Nef for Knockback? It's cheap and if you want to replace it with a HR or uber jewel in the future, it only costs you a hel rune to unsocket.
wf has knockback built in. i recommend 40/15 :D. ed on weps gives a lot of bonuses because it adds directly to the points before modifiers. e.g. 300 dex will modify a base wep dmg by 3 times; adding a 40% ed jewel off wep will make this modification 3.4, but adding it the weapon will mean 3 times the base wep with the 40% added to the base

Easy to tell I've never had a WF :) I'm more of a faith guy.
40/15 then! hehehe
dont need IAS though, remember? :)

Whenever I'm unsure of what to socket I toss an ohm in 50%ED never hurt any weapon:thumbup:
Amn for a dual leech bow. Or eth for -target defence.
Certainly if you are unsure, it seems smart to first test cheap alternatives before you start wasting hr.

If you dont need ias then Ohm it. 50% extra damage.

Ohm your cannon.
WF at L99: 250 ED, +309 max, 35 to 547 damage
WF w/ Ohm: 300 ED, +309 max, 42 to 581 damage
WF w/ 40% ED/15 Max jewel: 290 ed, +324 max, 39 to 589
A dam/dam jewel is also a choice for raw damage. But that still leaves the question of whether it's better to just stack the raw damage, go with Ber to push my CB from 30% to 50%, or maybe Cham for some tactical defense.

I wouldn't put a res jewel in it if your goal is to survive black souls in hell mode. 75 lit res doesn't cut it. You need to put on tgods belt. I've tried many things and I find Ohm is the best choice.
Yes, its looking like Ohm is the way to go, and I'll try switching a raven for a wisp to help with the lightning alphas....

Against the black souls, I found one wisp was not enough. I was still getting hurt pretty bad. Then again, I had low life. I always like to be almost immune to them because eventually, 10 of them are going to shoot you at once from way off the screen.

Decoy works well against black souls.

I can't bear the thought of having to set up decoys around every corner. Maybe I'm just lazy.
I never tried 2 wisps though. Surely that would work.
well i have blackhorns now, thats 20 lite absorb, and that doesnt seem to put much of a dent in it, even when I socketed it with Ort recently. Lite resist's only at like 6 though....maybe an Anni will help at this point.
How does integer absorb work with % absorb anyway? Does it decrease by % and then by integer, or by integer and then by %?
Decoy doesnt buy me much time either vs black souls, since they one-hit her and then one-hit me. Plus, their lightning attack a lot of times goes straight through your decoy and hits you anyway :P And it does slow you down having to decoy-scout every corner.
integer first, then percentage. Therefore, a combination isn't always good.
