View Full Version : Sacrifice in Damage Output/Survivability in the Enigma vs. CoH Discussion (Javazons)

Hey all. I hate to pick up a tired discussion (i.e., Engima vs. CoH), but some recent sightings have caused me to turn my head in wonder. I hope you can help...
I've been Baaling lately with the incredible crowd over at Op Shockbaal, where they offer my favorite high-speed, map-hack-free runs. A few of the javazon runners working there, however, are beginning to really puzzle me for the following reasons:
1. Not only do they wear Enigma, but they also seem to be moving at above average speeds when porting--not sorceress speeds, of course, but fast for zons nevertheless.
2. Their resistances seem no worse for wear. That is, even sacrificing my tried and true CoH with its +65 All Res, they still manage to blow through ghosts, dolls, and pit lords without much, if any, damage taken.
3. They somehow remain highly efficient killers.
So I guess I can boil those three points down to one single question: how can decent FCR and high resistances still come together on a zon with incredible killing speed?
I'd appreciate any responses, particularly, however, I'm interested in finding out how to max resistances even with Enigma on. Are these runners simply sacrificing a lot of damage output to make a gain in speed?

Short answer good amu and anni. Torch I leave at stash in baalruns. I replace torch slot with 2x sc (resist with 17-20 life).
As Both Griffon (25) and Spirit (35) gives fcr its nice starting point for tele speed.
In addition I use crafted fcr mana leech with 51light resist amu. Add 3 resist boots and there lightning resist is covered. Other resist, I don't care, usually high enough.
Add arach and you have 99fcr. Less pierce, but less bnet kick outs too.
Or just go after 3rd fastest tele speed and forget 99fcr. Using thunder belt is one option too, then its very safe tele-char.
You still have room to use Raven and Nature piece, so Ama works as great dkey runner too.
All charms slots are still available, not that hard to get resist with nigma.
I have tele bow ama, even she has max resist even without shield slot. But there more resist charms, as skillers has no use.
Ama is very safe tele char, sometimes she get stuck (if low fcr), but not so often. With 99fcr it is almost stuck free. With fastest (over 160), I have never got stuck so far, need to find fana-aura boss pack or something.
If stuck, killing all or walking away and continue tele.

Thanks for the reply. Here's maybe where I begin wondering about damage: with spirit as my main shield, I'm losing a faceted JMOD, and while I understand this isn't an issue for everyone, that JMOD accounts for a boat load of damage (with torch and BC, I'm currently at 11k for CS and 4.7k for LF). Now, maybe I'm too concerned with max damage here, and if so, please tell me, but the above gear involves quite a loss in LF and CS damage, no?

You have huge damage. Pretty hard to get resist if Helmet, Armor, Shield and Weapon slot don't give any.
If you use +6 BO weapon with Spirit Shield, use that side while teleing, then just need to replace amu, for decent tele speed.
And keep using that JMOD in damage side.
Or I think you kill just fine even with Spirit shield.
You maybe lose that 1-2 seconds in while killing waves, but you get that back, when you can jump right away after Baal. And you run faster in town too, so in total its faster.
