HK's Smiter Guide:

*mainly for pvp against elem damage users (duh) like sorcs, ESEPECIALLY FC-lit zons, poison zons, fire bow zons, cold bow zons, ravenclaw+enchanted characters, enchanted characters, holy fire dins, holy shock dins, holy freeze dins, foh'er dins, auradins, etc..

*can also be used for pvm.

*incredibly powerful build for pvp (excluding ww barbs) and for pvm too. only weakness is high physical damage. so don't get swarmed by hard hitting melee monsters in pvm especially if u are amp'ed or decrepified. HOWEVER, if u smite multiple monsters' u can stun them all (hopefully) briefly, than u can get away or smite and kill 1 monster. than re-stun them all again. than kill anotehr monster. rinse n repeat.

stats:

65 str (for barbed shield) (less if got +str gear). 35 dex (for generals flail) (however, full iratha gear gives u plenty of dex. so no dex is needed). rest into vit.

skills:

20 smite, 20 holy shield, 20 fanaticism, 10 at least FR (for +5% max FR), 10 at least LR (for +5% max LR). rest of pts into LR FIRST until u got 20 (for +10% max LR). than if u got still more skill pts left over, into FR (for +10% max FR, if u reach slvl 20). optional skill pts into holy freeze.

gear:

full iratha, darkglow (if u don't have slvl 20 LR and/or slvl 20 FR) or iceblink/twitch/hawkmail/blinkbat/rattlecage/boneflesh/goldskin/rare armor (if u got slvl 20 LR and/or slvl 20 FR), rare boots (30% FWR, 10% FHR, resists) or goblintoes or hotspurs, rare rings (resists, +min dmg if works with smite, +max dmg if works with smite) or sojs, rare barbed shield (17/30/20, prism, resists) or 2 p diamond socketed barbed shield (as far as i know, barbed shields can NOT get 3 sockets in classic) or 2 p gem stacked elem socketed barbed shield (for example: 2 p topazes for using against lit damage characters).

*with full iratha, darkglow, slvl 10 LR, and slvl 10 FR you have 95 95 95 95 resists (with help from thawing and antedote pots).

*with full iratha, slvl 20 LR, and slvl 20 FR you have 95 95 95 95 resists (with help from thawing and antedote pots).

*completed around ~clvl 80 (with slvl 10 LR and slvl 10 FR and using darkglow for 95 95 95 95 resists).

*completed around ~clvl 90 (with slvl 20 LR and slvl 10 FR and using darkglow for 95 95 95 95 resists)

*completed around ~clvl 90 (with slvl 20 LR and slvl 10 FR and using hotspurs for 95 95 95 95 resists)

*completed around ~clvl 90 (with slvl 20 LR and slvl 10 FR for 90 95 95 95 resists)

*completed around clvl 99 (with slvl 20 LR and ~slvl 20 FR for 95 95 95 95 resists)

it will take a whil.e to get to lvl 90 from doing hell river runs, as for hell choas the only monster you will be able to hurt is d, andi doubt you will get last hit on him. smiter4s in classic are fun at first, then get boring as you have no lifetap, and their not great at pvp

killing at players 8 will be tedious

as i said in my post:

"*completed around ~clvl 80 (with slvl 10 LR and slvl 10 FR and using darkglow for 95 95 95 95 resists)." -HK

u don't have to get to clvl 90, but for 95 95 95 95 resists u'll have to use darkglow.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the build is mainly for pvp against elem damage users, especially since the paladin is the ONLY character who can get 95% LR, and with smite u always hit (as long as u can get to them....), which makes for a VERY GOOD pvp'er.

it works very well in pvm too. 95 95 95 95 resists and high life means u never die (as long as u be careful around physical damage monsters). IM DOES work on smite so CS area is very dangerous. smite kills ANY single target reasonably fast when they can't be knocked back (up against a "wall" or are a type of monster that can't be knocked back) (unless PI of course), even in an 8 player game. however, it is a single target-attack-skill, which means it's slow for killing multiple monsters. but meh, as a smiter u should know this and only be taking out specific single targets anyways (that the other players can't or do too slowly or are dangerous to them).

I had a pure def smiter that held its own vs bvbs quite well a few seasons ago, you should check out that route :)

If this build is PvP (I suppose, that you have a level 90 smiter, right?) can you please tell me if the resistance from iratha and a 2diamond shield is enough to withstand a high level sorc (level 22-24 cold mastery) or a FOHer? As I understand you dont have any res rings, as you use 2 sojs o_O

Do you really have 95 res in such set up? How much CR and LR do you have stacked? Can you post screenshots of your gear and char setup? (Im interested in the str/dmg ratio; stacked/listed res).

i just wrote this long post, jsut for u fledlging, i really hope u READ ALL OF IT, i put a lot of effort in, in writing this long post just for u. would be extremely disrespectful to not read it word for word and it would give u no respect from me if u didn't and than make posts that clearly show u didn't read it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
at first this was merely for pvp against lit users, but realizing u have 95 95 95 95 resists, it is able to duel ANY elem (fire, cold, lit, poison) user. that is why i have u put 10 into FR skilll for the 95% FR with darkglow and still using goblintoe.

(if u ONLY wanna use this smiter for a single elem, than make accordingly and apply skill points appropraitely.)

but this build below allows u to duel any of all 4 of the elements (fire, cold, lit, poison).

HK_Leonidas

current clvl:

~65

(i might re-make though since i wasted pts into dex, which i didnt need to do. not sure, still deciding. only wasted 10 stat pts. dex from base 25 to 35 for general flails, but didn't need as iratha gives plenty of dex)

stats: (excluding increase from gear)

65 str (for barbed shield)
35 dex (my mistake. not sure if remake for these 10 stat points)
rest into vit.

current skills:

20 holy shield, 20 smite, 20 fanactism, 10 Lit Res.

next/rest of skills order:

10 fire res. 1 pt cold res. 20 LR. rest into cold res or fire res or get at least 1 pt vigor or holy freeze.

FINISHED BUILD:

(have to use darkglow for 95% LR and darkglow/hotspurs for 95% FR)

~clvl 80: 20 holy shield, 20 smite, 20 fanaticism, 10 lit res, 10 fire res, 1 pt cold res.

further perfection of build:

(allows me to use other armor instead of darkglow while still having 95% LR. best armor would be iceblink, barring the need for stacking resists and/or hawkmail and it's CBF for cold users)

(i'd still have to use darkglow/hotspurs for 95% FR)

~clvl 90: 20 holy shield, 20 smite, 20 fanaticism, 20 LR, 10 FR, 1 pt cold res.

"GODHOOD" of build:

(allows me to use iceblink and goblin toes while having 95 95 95 95 resists. against cold users, i'd probably use hawkmail for CBF and ~30% cold resist, use CR aura as active aura, maybe have to switch to an even 3 socketed p saphire shield, and maybe even have to use CR rare boots instead of goblintoe)

clvl 99: 20 holy shield, 20 smite, 20 fanaticism, 20 LR, 20 FR, at least 1 pt cold resist, at least 1 pt vigor, at least 1 pt holy freeze.

current gear i use/have equiped:

right now he is a mule, i'm working on lvling my re-make bvb using mace (bh) and mace mastery this time instead of cleg sword. moved gear to other characters.

gear that i have for him to use depending on situations:

full iratha, darkglow(for 95% LR)/iceblink(for slow-chill and ~30% CR)/hawkmail(for CBF and ~30% CR/goldskin(for 35% all resists)/vemonward(PR) or rare resist armor(resists), 1 soj(more holy shield, fanaticism, smite, LR aura, charge) (i don't have a 2nd soj) and/or rare resist rings, generals flail or resist weapon (too many to name), goblintoe or hotspurs or rare resist boots, 2 p topaz barbed shield(for lightning users like lit sorc, foh'er, FC-lit zon, auradin, shockadin, etc..) or barbed shield with +2 pal(more holy shield, fanaticism, smite, LR aura, charge) or a pretty high def barbed shield or 3 socketed non-barbed shields (sacrifice damage for more resists if i need to).

gear i still need that i don't have yet:

2 p ruby barbed shield
2 p diamond barbed shield
2 p saphire barbed shield
2 p emerald barbed shield
godly rare barbed shield (+2 pal, prims, resist, high def, 17/30/20, etc)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
actual duel experience:

against:

foh'er in HELL (non-cs/low res curse):

1v1. no barb bo or other character help for either of us.

my life: ~1k or ~1,000

his foh damage: ~800 (max amount) (it was actually like 750-790, but 800 is easier)

my gear:

darkglow (i'd have to get 10 more skill pts into LR skill to be able to use other armor and still keep 95% LR), full iratha, generals flail, golbin toe, NO rings, 2 p topaz barbed shield

this gear set up gives me ~207% LR

he said he had -140% resists from his conviction. + -50% from hell

gives him: -190% LR to me

my LR: 207-190= 17% LR

(i had NO rings on. easy 60% LR from 30% LR rare rings, jsut too lazy to get them)

17% LR + ~80% LR (from LR aura as active aura) = 95% LR for me

i adapted and switched between fanacticism and LR aura. (before his foh hit i switched to LR aura. in between switched back to fanaticism for more damage with cahrge/smite).

he did only 40 damage to me and i had 1,000 life. it would take him ~25 foh's to kill me. unfortunately for him, i could kill him every time in before he could even get ~ 3-4 fohs in.

easy kill. i won over and over.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
he also had a FC-lit zon (and he used FC) (again in HELL, and non-cs-low res curse).

being a zon, he had no conviction, so i didn't need to use LR aura, cuz i had 95% LR.

he did about 100 max damage per FC'ed charged strike.

however, i charged and got close to him, and smited, nothing he could do, dead. over and over again dead. as soon as i got close and smited him he couldn't attack at all. even easier than the foh'er.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
he than got an orber, and wasted me. though duh, my gear was for lit damage not cold.

i think for an orber, besides gearing for cold damage, i might have to have hopefully just 1 pt into CR skill and have that as active aura. hopefully that will give me enough resists that i still have 95% CR even with his cold mastery. and if not...i can further gear for cold and use a less damaging shield but it has p saphires in its 3 sockets, and this should definately give me enough CR to ahve 95% CR.

the smiter really doesn't need the fanaticism to kill. smite and holy shield and barbed shield does plenty of damage to kill wihtout fanaticism, so if u need more resists using a resist aura as your active aura is a definate option. though if u don't need the extra resists fanaticism is definately still nice and helpful (let's u kill them in half or less the time *hehe/grins*).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
bring any elem user u want fledgling and i'd glady duel u, just let me xfer/gear appropriately for who u bring :D
