Forgive me for that I am somewhat new to classic. Can someone post what I should be looking for weapon wise for a hammerdin? I would like to be able to eventually get to where I can solo CS. Even if I have to walk the path to get to him.

Thanks,
Blaine

Wanna give Spectral Shard (Blade) a try?
50FCR/55 mana/10 all resist is quite nice.

Or even a +2 paladin skill scepter will help.

+2 palladin skills 10fcr +3 battle hammer +3 concentration scepter

or

spectral shard as suggested

Please note that +x battlehammer is better than +x concentration

I am level 27 and it has been a rough go so far. I always run out of mana prety quick. Plus I am not doing much damage.

Are you sure you're doing the right build? At level 27, you should be going halfway decent even with random shopped gear. Or even naked in some places like cows.

If you put points in hammer every level, then split points between vigor and concentration when you hit level 18, you should be fine. Make sure you've got a point in holy shield for tough(er) encounters. Grab a shopped scepter, and some random fcr rings and you'll be all good.

hdin's don't get there real power until ~clvl 40. u can kill earlier, but u don't hit serious damage until ~clvl 40.

also, hdin's are awful until u hit clvl 30 for 1 pt into redemption. until u got redemption, you gonna be mana potting like crazy.

most important is to get resists gear as you lvling up. and be pumping your vit/life, once u got your str/dex for gear.

the shard, despite what u may think, is NOT a bad choice. it's a very good weapon until u got gear and a good scepter.

godly/dream hdin weapon:

+2 pal, +3 bles ham, +3 concentration, +3 vigor (or if u can get, holy shield would be better), 10% FCR, resists, etc mods.

+3/+3/+3 ? I thought the max was +3/+3/+2.

Yes, it is.

About the previous post(s)...I made my first din recently and he was pretty in the mid 20's. Certainly better than almost every other build I've ever made at this level.

Also, shard can compare with even a great scepter. You'll probably never see a +2/+3/+3 or be able to get one (and even then you'll need 10 fcr on your ammy), whereas you can use Shard/Magefists/1 fcr ring/1 random ring, much easier. Or even a +2/10 fcr ammy, and use 2 SoJ.

Wouldn't +vigor not help, since only "hard points" count in synergies?

+3 vigor from scepter (+skill gear) does NOT help the bles ham damage, u are right. however, +3 more vigor (FWR speed) is nice (which DOES work from +skill gear) !

sorry for not clarifying what i ment in the other post.

the +3 vigor on a scepter helps your speed (when u switch to vigor as your active aura), but being from gear has NO effect on the synergy bonus for bles ham.

+3/+3/+3 ? I thought the max was +3/+3/+2.

is this true that scepters can only get +2 pal, +3 skill , +3 skill ?, And not +2 "pal", +3 skill, +3 skill, +3 skill ?

i'm sure staffs (and i'm pretty sure wands can too) can get +2 "sorc", +3 skill, +3 skill, +3 skill

if these (staff and wand) can, shouldn't a scepter be able to also ?

i thought all +skill weapons (staff, wand, scepter) can get +2 class and three 1-3 skilled skills...

wiki links:

1. http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Staves
2. http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Scepters
3. http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Wands

this is from the staff weapon section of the wiki:

Inherent bonuses: Staves can have +1-3 points to up to three skills from any of her skill trees. Bonus skills greatly increase the repair price of a staff though, so resist the urge to do any melee with a good staff.

than any scepter, staff, wand can get the +2 class mod as well.

so...shouldn't it be possible to get +2 class (mod), + 1-3 skill (inherent bonus), + 1-3 skill (inherent bonus), + 1-3 skill (inherent bonus) ???

IIRC, in Classic as natural mods, scepters, wands, staves can only get +3 skillA, +3 skillB, +2skillC. I've never seen a +3/+3/+3

The +1/+2 skill prefix is completely separate.

it seems weird to me if they would have the final 3rd skill being only 1-2, when the 2 other skills are 1-3.

of course, in practice, probably no one has gotten such a dream magical +2 class, +3 skill +3 skill, +2 or +3 skill (which ever is possible) wand/scepter/staff, and let alone, a rare with +2 class, 10% or 20% FCR (depends if scepter or wand/staff), resists, mod, mod, mod, +3 skill, +3 skill, +2 or +3 skill (whichever is possible). but it is *possible*, just like winning the lottery or getting hit by lightning or whatever in theory/potential.

It's not really that wierd, they are fairly different things. The +2 is a prefix, and the +1-3 are staffmods.

no no, i ment the three + 1-3 skill mods, not the +1 or +2 class mod.

it's weird that the 3rd "staff mod" would be only + 1-2, when the otehr 2 "staff mods" are + 1-3.
