Wow, I looked at one of the strafe builds and it seemed a bit dated.
The author mentions that you only need 20% ias to hit level 20 (10-shot) strafe's IAS breakpoint. This is total BS.
My level 85 softcore bowa (UsWest Ladder, char name Vodazon)
20 penetrate
20 strafe
everything else evenly added to d/a/e/cs/pierce
so all of those passives are around level 11 or 12 by now.
No valk, no decoy. Don't need that noob ****.
I added a considerable amount to strength; I think my base is 70. My gear takes it to 95.
My vita is at 20% of my dex, w/gear. I don't wear any +vit and I think the only +dex I have is off my twitchthroe.
None to energy, duh. 5% mana steal in hell is enough to support strafe as long as ur AR is high enough. Max penetrate, high dex and sig helm means u should have no problem. If you want rediculous AR without sig helm, you'll have to sacrifice your amulet spot and one ring spot for stupid angelics. U shouldn't need that stuff once your level is near enough CS monster level.
I wear sig gloves (+10str for gothic bow)
goblin toe
Sig helm or duskdeep (AR and open belt slot vs max dmg and res)
Goldwrap or Sig belt (IAS and open helm slot vs FR and Defense)
Twitchtroe(duh... don't let anyone tell u a bowa can do anything w/o twitch in classic)
Life steal rings with +min and res
Mana steal amulet with +9min and +life +mana
130% ed gothic bow with light resist and 3 second poison damage
I have a howltusk as well for when I am soloing.
And I know I'm still not at my IAS breakpoint because I get faster shots with a 10%ias rune (low dmg tho so I don't use it)
And I shoot a LOT faster with a zealot/smiter's fanatacism aura on me.

Meh that build will not clear cs in solo and will get owned in flyern due to strafe lock (which is sadly the only place bow zon can level alone).

Here is the strafe table that might explain why you shoot faster with your rune bow or when u have fana from paladin.
Yeah it turns out there's a strafe IAS breakpoint at 60% for a normal (no IAS) gothic bow. So if I use 30% glove, 20% armor, and 10% belt I get faster strafe, but 50% IAS is no faster than 30% IAS on strafe. So actually that build makes more sense than I had thought. I use sig gloves for +str, and I recently switched to rattlecage. I'm not sure if strafe is slower with 20%ias than it is with 30% ias, but the sig gloves aren't ever coming off because of the str. Right now I'm also wearing tearhaunch, bladebuckle, and a 5 str 6%LL rare ring to use gothic w/o twitchthroe. Bowa is the only char I can think of who really appreciates having 40% hitflee. I use sig helm so my AR is hella good. The CB on rcage is nice as well. I feel so dumb for not noticing this earlier-- It's worth having a bit slower strafe in exchange for hitflee and cb. I don't think I'm going to use gtoe though. Too many good stats on tearhaunch.
