Blizzard put a new message on d2 bnet February 25 warning us not to use bots, cheats, and programs that let you run multiple instances of the game.

Does anyone else (besides me) feel a bit better whenever anything at all gets added to the bnet message board?

What do you suppose this means? Is it prep for another mass ban or what? Or, are they just tired of idiots complaining about getting banned for cheating, so this message drives it into their heads exactly what Blizzard doesn't want you to do? Is it Blizzard's way of having to spell it out for everyone who tries to justify cheating?

I mean come on. Cheating, then getting banned, then trying to justify your cheating, then raging about being a victim of corporate swineards (doing all 4 of these) is what a lot of people are doing these days....does Blizzard ALSO have to post a message saying: "Do not take your CD out and cut yourself with it. If you do, it is not our fault if something bad happens. The product is to be used propperly, etc, etc."

Note: I'm kind of venting here. It's just pathetic that Blizzard has to mention this obvious stuff. How low and lazy have players become?

You have to understand that people always want to be the best. If they cannot invest the proper amount of time, cheating becomes necessary. I think Blizzard is warning people who may think about it, not knowing how severe the consequences can be. I appreciate it when people get banned for cheating; it allows the rest of us to have fun.

Hell, people even cheat on Xbox 360 games. How badly do you want that next level in Halo 3 to DoS someones Xbox, I mean, thats illegal.

It's nice how they have the warning and everything, however you'll notice it's a copy and paste job from what they have written on the right side of the screen. I doubt it'll really have much effect.

Only if you have the L337 mentality and is very lazy ... these are the worst types of gamers ... the want to be so hardcore and yet they are lazy as hell ... they consider this a justification to cheat.

What's the problem if you don't have too much time at your hands .. just enjoy the time you play ... miss the good old days when gaming was about having fun.

Sure thing

I heard if you fiddle your Xbox360 you actually might get banned from LIVE .. the whole online service not just a certain game .. that's it's good to hear that when someone cheats in say Diablo3 they get banned from their B.net 2 as a whole not just Diablo3 .. that will teach them not to cheat :coffee:

Yeah, when Bungie catches you cheating at Halo, you're gone. They ban your Xbox MAC address, your gamertag, and your credit card. You are SOL. I would love to see a MAC address ban for people cheating on battle.net.

I completely agree having a zero-policy against cheaters, as long as it does not interfere with the gameplay of honest gamers. (Not being able to go quickly in and out of games to stop bots being ridiculous and ineffective to boot), also, banning them from b-net entirely might be a bit extreme and unfair seeing that its effectively disallowing them to use a promised feature of the (other then D3) game they bought. Last thing i want to add is, Blizzard, don't pull **** like vex to zod runes again, they are "intermediate" items that should be reasonably easy to find. (as easy as say up to ist in a normal playthrough of the game, not including countess and hellforge), not virtually impossible to find, else you can't expect them not to be duped. Honestly, it would be extremely foolish to make this same mistake twice. The hard to find items should be for example very powerful rare items. (like it already is, just that, they are quite useless/not viable in comparison to over powered dupewords) I love the low to mid runewords, reason is that i can actually find the runes needed and generally i try to stay away from dupewords because i feel they utterly break the game. Please don't let this happen again, be smart, else you're walking straight into the same dupe infested stupidity.

They violated the rules and more importantly the "user agreement" that everyone must accept before installing the game .. which indicates you can't use any third party software, it's their fault.

Besides ... the ban is not permanent .. it's only 30 days (although i guess it becomes permanent in case of repeated violations) ... and they can still play the SP.

I think they are being smart and evidently are fixing most of the blight that was in D2, don't think they will miss on this one .. oh .. and rune-words won't be in D3 anymore .. skill runes only.

There might be something similar to rune-words in D3 (you know, basically the same, hopefully improved, mechanic, but not with "runes" seeing that they are now linked to skills).

I wouldn't sob if it were to be instant permaban for serious cheaters though. :)
