while playing d2 with some "friends" from game in game, i mentioned about not being able to find/get a blue ring with the 30-40 mf on it.

he made a really good suggestion: pick up and keep worthless amulets. than use the cube recipe to convert 3 magical-blue amulets into a magical-blue ring (at least this seems to be the recipe and what it does), as a way to hopefully get a blue ring with the 30-40 mf on it.

so, i need to know about how this cube recipe works. what effects it? what effects the mods u get on the created ring, if anything does or is it just random what mods the magical-blue ring gets? does clvl ? does difficulty? what area or difficulty that u do the cube recipe transmutation?

3 Magic Rings/Amulets = 1 Random Magic Amulet/Ring
ilvl = int(.75 * clvl). This means at Character Level 65, ilvl = 48. Fortuitous 11-15%MF alvl=12 clvl=8
of Fortune(M) 16-25% MF alvl=42 clvl=31

a/ilvl=42

42 = .75 * clvl
56 = clvl

You need a character at least level 56 to get a magic Fortuitous ring of Fortune (+27% to +40% magic find)

ty, so need to do this cube recipe with characters at clvl 56-99 (including 56).

i presume the higher the clvl the better? or is it different with this, compared to gambling where the higher the clvl the better? is clvl 56 the best or clvl 99 for a blue ring with 27-40% mf from cubing ?

Imbuing: Char lvl +-5 to the Imbue and the higher your level is, the higher the chance to spawn mods close to your current level.

Gambling: Char lvl +-5 = Gambled item's ilvl.

Cubing: ilvl comes from that formula. I don't think the char lvl increases the chance of getting a specific ilvl like in imbuing..

Hope I got this right (writing as sleepwalker).

Maybe u should sleep sometimes ^

Anyway, Imbue is always clvl +4
gambling range is -5 to +4
And on cubing deichela got it right :)

i had trouble with that formula, deichsela used, but that's expected. i always have trouble with math as u have seen on this site.

though i do understand clvl 56-99 when cubing to get the 27-40 mf mod on blue ring.

just wish i understood the formula and how deich got the 56...couldn't figure out the formula or how to use the formula...whatever.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
with the cubing (cube recipe) method, is it better to do it at clvl 56 or clvl "99" (for extreme example) to have best/better chance of generating a blue ring with the 27-40 mf mod ?

I already tried to explain this a few posts up, but the simple answer is no.
Hope this helps :)

Don't mix this with imbuing where higher level grants you a better change to get a desired mod..

hmm, a bit confused, are u saying being clvl 56 is better or that it doesn't matter at all (as long as u 56 or up) ?

I don't know if I still didn't explain it clear enough.

Yes, I think the clvl doesn't matter at all when cubing stuff (as long as you are above the required char level ofc).

with the cubing (cube recipe) method, is it better to do it at clvl 56 or clvl "99" (for extreme example) to have best/better chance of generating a blue ring with the 27-40 mf mod ? ilvl = int(.75 * clvl)
ilvl = .75 * clvl

ilvl for the "of Fortune" suffix is 42.
42 = .75 * clvl
42 / .75 = clvl
56 = clvl

Once you're level 56, you have the chance to get a Fortuitous Ring of Fortune.

Level is not part of the formula, but if there are attributes above ilvl42, then players above (42/.75) clvl56 will have a harder time getting a Fortuitous Ring of Fortune; More possibilities means less chance to get specific attributes.

ah okay cool, i get the math/formula now!, TY

i presume the int (in the formula)=1 ?

or what does int stand for ?

how do i know what the ilvl is for a mod ?

does orphan's thread have the ilvls listed for the mods (i haven't looked at his thread in awhile) ?

is the ilvl=mlvl or area lvl ?

u explained fine, i'm just stupid or bad with math.

int = integer
56.75 => 56
23.25 => 23

Say clvl=57.
ilvl = int(.75 * 57)
ilvl = int (42.75)
ilvl = 42

Fortuitous 11-15%MF alvl=12 clvl=8
of Fortune(M) 16-25% MF alvl=42 clvl=31

a/ilvl=42 Orphan's thread lists the attributes as alvl. In this case, alvl for the mod equals ilvl.
